If you are estranged from one parent and you do not have actual, first hand, irrefutable evidence of why that parent deserves to be estranged, you may have been manipulated as a child to believe that parent was not worthy of your love and respect.

Amy Baker's book "Adult Children of Parental Alienation Syndrome" list about 20 methods by which one parent can do this, with the first two methods being:
1. denigration of the other parent
2. reducing the amount of time a child spends with the other parent

So if one parent can take the children to a country that doesn't play fair, US courts shouldn't give that parent unsupervised visitation.
