Went to Nags Head several times as a kid with the family. VERY BORING! But, if your looking for things to do I recall going to several outlet malls that had small shops throughout them. Some stores were pretty neat and had a lot of cool things to look at. We usually saved those mall visits for rainy days and went to the beach every other day.

As for food, you can find a lot of local pizza joints on the beach or close to the beach that serve some pretty good pie. The names of the places I cannot remember, but I do remember one that was good that had something about pirates in it's name (I know that is not much help). I do not recall ever going to a seafood place that was not good there.

Did you rent a place for the week? We always rented one each summer until I got into high school that slept like 15-20 and the whole family came.

I went last year with the family and I'm going again this year. It's not a place like Myrtle Beach where there are tons of stuff to do. The waves suck but it's a great place to relax. The house we had, had a kayak which was fun. Couldn't tell you about bars and that scene seeing how I'm not 21 but there are quite a few.
Overall, great place to relax. There are things like parasailing and jet ski rentals and even deep sea fishing but not as many things like putt putt or aquariums and whatnot.

I think there are places in the area to try hang gliding. There's also a museum near Kitty Hawk about a couple of boys from Dayton named Orville and Wilbur. It was worth an hour an two. There are several golf courses in the area as well.

You can also take copies of Nicolas Sparks' books along and try to use them to start conversations with MILFs in Rodanthe. :tongue2:

Should be some pretty good golf in that area Sears.

And take the Ferry to Okercoke Island. It's very small but wonderfully charming (take the little lady, she'll enjoy the day). Good restaurants and you can park and rent bikes to ride around the entire island.

It's been a couple years since I've been, but Mama Kwans was my favorite place to eat, and it's not too expensive. The Outer Banks Brewing Station is a good place to grab a drink. There are also chains there like Dirty Dick's (decent seafood) and Hooters (decent view).

If you are renting a house for a week, I recommend stocking up on things to grill out. There is a Food Lion on the way road into town, just before you hit mile marker zero on the road that runs along the beach.

If you have a car while you are there, Ocracoke Island is a good day trip, and you will pass a few of the lighthouses along the way, which is another good thing to do. There are also wild horses in the Corolla section, which is fun for kids. You may be able to rent 4-wheelers to ride on the beach in some of the areas as well.
