    Mike Dewine.

Our company is big into estate/wealth planning and there is a big issue about estate tax that the owner of our company wants to talk to him about his stance on the issue.

Personally, I have some similar views as dewine, but for the most part i dont, so needless to say i'm not too excited about meeting him. and not really happy that he is the reason i have to wear a suit today!

Don't worry. He's behind in every poll, so it looks as though he'll be replaced soon enough--by a Buckeye!

You've been in Chicago too long. Our Secretary of State is running for govenor... running and in charge of vote counting at the same time. Two years ago he was the chairman of the Ohio Re-Elect the President Campaign and in charge of vote counting. Conflict of interest? I think he went to the Richard Daley School for Election Practices.

Nevertheless, everyone is expecting a huge Demo victory in this state and I don't see it happening. The GOP has built up a terriffic grassroots network, they've gerrymandered the hell out of the state (as is their right), the state Demo organization is in tatters, Demo Senators from New York are calling the shots on who runs, people are mad at Bush.. not the GOP, the religo politicos are getting up a full head of steam and if it rains on Nov 7 you can put it down as a huge GOP victory.

I do see it happening. I will be stunned if Blackwell wins, stunned. It will be interesting.

in a huge surprise, he is a typical politician. talked about how when he sees a problem, he looks for a solution even working through party lines.... he talked for about 10 minutes and it was all typical politics. my views after today

    1) he is short, very short
    2) pretty good public speaker, but his pacing and hand movements got very distracting
    3) he is very short
    4) he liked to blow his own horn
    5) he thinks that we all care about everything he has done
    6) his wife puts out -they have eight kids

Was he wearing a plaid, flannel shirt so that it would seem like he gives a damn about the commoners?

Democratic Senate candidate Sherrod Brown leads incumbent Republican Mike DeWine by six points among likely Ohio voters, according to a USA Today/Gallup poll released today.

The survey of voters conducted between August 23 and 27 had a 5 percent margin of error, so Brown's lead could be slimmer or more significant than the results showed. Among registered voters, Brown's lead was 2 percent, but it grew to 6 percent among those likely to vote.

A survey conducted several days earlier by The Wall Street Journal and Zogby International showed Brown with an 8.5 percent lead over DeWine.

"There has been a great deal of fluctuation in the polls in recent weeks and the USA Today survey was taken before the campaign's most recent ad highlighting Mike DeWine's ability in the Senate to reach across the aisle to get things done for Ohio aired across the state," said DeWine campaign spokesman Brian Seitchik. "We all know that this is going to be a close race all the way through Election Day."

In an effort to boost DeWine, the National Republican Senatorial Committee spent more than $600,000 Tuesday on ads to oppose Brown, Federal Election Commission filings show. On Friday, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee launched a TV commercial touting Brown as a champion of the middle class.

In Ohio's governor's race, the USA Today poll showed Democrat Ted Strickland with a 16 point lead over Republican Ken Blackwell. It indicated that 60 percent of African American voters support Strickland, instead of Blackwell, an African American conservative.
