Our 2012 bowl game - at Hawaii?? (Not as 13th game, per NCAA sanctions)

  • Per a PM suggestion I just received. Drop Fredo or UCF in the beginning of the 2102 season and go to Hawaii to play the Warriors a week or two after The Game.

Many B1G teams have come out here after the conference schedule was complete: Wisconsin in 1996, Michigan and Northwestern in 1998, Wisconsin in 2000, and Michigan State and Northwestern in 2004, all as their last regular season games. It definitely could be done.

EDIT: Hell, we wouldn't really even have to drop Fredo or UCF...just add Hawaii as a 13th game.

I second the 13th game idea.

USC did that this year - they scheduled Hawaii as the 13th game, it just was played in early September. Hawaii opens at USC in 2012.

The open date for tOSU is Nov 10th, and Hawaii seems to have that date open.

Or it would require Hawaii to move their home date with South Alabama on 12-01-2012.

Actually that is a damn fine idea...we can play in the Hawaii Bowl right before the Hawaii Bowl, so to speak...would be a nice Yuck Fu to the NCAA and a bit of a perk for the kids that didn't do anything wrong.

No way we make the trip out here and then back for Wisconsin and Michigan. We could play UH on Dec 8th. UH has played regular season ending games that late before, including a couple B1G teams (BYU on Dec 8, 2001; SDSU on Dec 7th, 2002; BSU on Dec 6th, 2003; Michigan State on Dec 4th, 2004; Cincinnati on Dec 6th, 2008; Wisconsin on Dec 5th, 2009, as examples).

We need to make this happen. Hawaii would shit all over themselves to have Ohio State come out for a game.

Trying to play the game after the final BCS standings come out could be a problem, since it could affect things in the BCS computers after the Title game is determined (wihch I think will be Dec. 2nd next year). I know they do that for Army-Navy now, but that's another factor.

It's not a factor for Ohio State, and highly unlikely to be so for Hawai'i. And the BCS is completely unrelated to the NCAA, so that's not an issue.
