Shugarts Daddy has been ready! Actually he's been the "odds on favorite" of a certain someone (who has much more invested in the OL) to win a starting job in the fall as long as he learns his playbook and his assignments.

Confirmation of the situation. Mike could be back by October or he could end up redshirting.

This is very depressing. I was really excited for Mike to see what he's got. What were the details on how and what exactly happened? Was it just a freak injury or was it something that had been bothering him?

Damn, really disappointing, I was thinking he was going to have the biggest impact of all of the freshmen this year. Hopefully J.B. and Brewster can step up extra which no doubt in my mind they will.

Nope. Shoulder surgeries on OL are no minor deal. He'd miss the entire spring practice as a minimum, and probably wouldn't be ready for full-bore contact by fall practice.

Yup! It's gonna take a while to recover from surgery. I agree that it's probably gonna be best to redshirt.

No. You just don't play at all and when the season's over, you're given a redshirt.

Can't you play in 3 or 4 games and still get a redshirt? Just curious because possibly he could play the last 3 or 4 games, get PT, and still redshirt if that's the case. I know some players have done that in the beginning of the season but I can't recall anybody doing it in the end?

Not positive on this, but I believe to claim the redshirt, the 3 or 4 games you play in cannot be in the last half of the season.
