on paper and with some assumptions, this is what our roster looks like for 2022-23.

between the 2021 and 2022 classes, i could see us taking more of a traditional post/center in one and a hybrid forward in the other. don't think it matters too much which class gets what. both could even be hybrid forwards as long as one is competent at guarding true centers. heck, maybe we just shelve one of the post scholarships and go after another wing. josiah harris would be a good fit as a tweener.

of course, of course, of course... expect change. there will be transfers. i will be surprised if liddell stays all four seasons. yadda yadda yadda. nonetheless, it shows where our needs project to be. no doubt the staff recruits based on what future rosters look like "on paper."

Unless OSU backs off a lot, which I don't think OSU is going to do, I am pretty confident that Josiah Harris will be in the 2022 class.

If an offer to Sean Jones comes this fall, I feel the same way about him. What I am realizing is how big an issue his smallness might be when trying to project how long Meechie and Branham are going to be here. Holtmann might really feel like he needs more positional flexibility from his 2022 guard recruits, I dunno.

And right now any and all big man recruits for the next couple classes are huge question marks to me.

i know ho1tmann has offered some out-of-state guards, but i just can't see him passing up on all the in-state talent. i think that would be a bad look in general and to ohio high school coaches in specific. imagine if ohio had three quarterbacks in one class ranked in the top 250, yet ryan day instead takes a commitment from a top-30 prospect from maryland.

unfortunately, i doubt jones will grow much more. he needs a late growth spurt. he says he went from just under 5'9" to 5'10" in the last year. call it an inch. an inch of growth in one year for a 16-year-old is not that much. most males don't grow much after 16. my assumption is that jones tops out at about 5'11". that's good enough for me. i'm not at all saying that jones will turn into carsen edwards, but did anyone think edwards played like he was 5'11"?

i guess there is an 8th-grade phenom in columbus. john paul mobley jr. already lots of highlight videos on multiple sites. kids got frosted tips and 38k followers on instagram. unlv just offered him.

Edwards wingspan was 6'6" and measured just over 6' in shoes. Yeah, I know, always a debate about whether the 1.5" for shoes is an actual height, but in having been next to Jones, I doubt he was 5'10" in shoes last year.

I don't know how tall Jones really is now, but its a valid concern as high D1 athletes are tougher to get around and finish over and his combination of size/athleticism is a question at the high D1 level. Smaller guys that succeed are usually really quick and while he is quick with the ball, he's not what I would call an exceptional athlete. I would say he is better than Trey Burke was at similar points in their career, but Burke made a huge jump in athleticism from junior to senior year. Will Jones? Don't know.

I really like Jones as a player and has everything you would want in a PG. If he were a little longer/quicker, we'd have offered him already and he'd likely have a lot more suitors. I won't say he is a fall back guy, but we are clearly in a wait and see approach with him.

There is good reason why the Blueblood programs do not offer 5'10" PGs because height does matter in bigtime College Basketball.
I would track D.J. Moore who seems to be exploding in recent games the past two weeks regardless of the Liberty verbal.
There are others also like Paul McMillan. Not ruling out Jones but would need to wait.
