OSU Men's Basketball Recruiting/Projections/General Discussions

Ian Steere 6'8" 250lbs re-opened his recruitment yesterday.
Was committed to Creighton but said too far from home in North Carolina.

Ohio State is much closer so maybe Holtmann will make a phone call.
Very good offer list and talented player.

Also might look for Holtmann to re-connect with Jaxson Hayes.
Bucks could still need a big guy.

Slow start in recruiting? LOL. CH added two legitimate prospects to the 2017 class, after being hired in June when they were all signed. Took him all of three and a half months to get three key verbals for the 2018 class. We truly live in the instant gratification era. I would say Chris is off to an excellent start.

Things just started looking brighter for the Ohio State basketball program. After a slow (actually miserable) start in recruiting Holtmann pulls off the RECRUITING HAT TRICK this week with Washington, LeDee, and Muhammed.

Looks like the staff may have withdrew their offer to Udeze with the Ahrens commit, so it appears there will not be a C in this class for OSU. Interesting to see what the frontcourt rotation will be with 2 relatively smaller Cs and 2 combo forwards. Looks like one change in recruiting strategy at OSU is there no longer a premium on C size and length. Perhaps also they are flexible to get the best talent they can regardless of position when they are filling out the roster. I think adding a pure PG will be a priority with the 2018 class, and they didn't want to go beyond 5 guys in the class. Remember, 3 or 4 is the ideal class number for Chris normally. It seems like they were willing to go either-or with the wing and post positions in this particular class, and were willing to end up with neither if the right guy didn't want in.

You never know if the right guy comes along and he wants in I think holt takes him. Class size be damned. I do not see many good kids from the state of Ohio for the 2019 class so he will have to go out of state for that class also. Sparty has 5 in their 2018 class so why cannot we.

five stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. it seems as though the butler fans have reached depression.

at least 24 offers have been extended by butler to players in the 2018 class. how many have bitten? that would be a big fat zero. they got their hopes up last week when some crystal balls for udeze went the bulldogs' way. that no longer seems probable, however, as wichita state has dominated since. looking over the remaining offers still open, i don't see any committing to butler; although, there may be some offers to less-heralded players that butler has extended but 247 has not listed.

to be sure, lavall jordan won't compile a 2018 class remotely close to the one holt2 was likely to sign.

Ohio State men’s basketball: 2018 recruiting ranking jumps into top-10 territory

Exactly one week ago, the ranking for the Ohio State men’s basketball team’s recruiting class of 2018 was basically undefined. Or, depending on how you look at it, tied for last.
.
.
.
According to the national rankings compiled by 247Sports.com, Ohio State’s class of 2018 now sits ninth nationally. Interestingly, though, that puts them only fifth-best in the Big Ten, behind Indiana (No. 3), Michigan State (No. 4), Michigan (No. 6) and Northwestern (No. 8).

Rivals.com has the Buckeyes at No. 11 nationally but also fifth in the Big Ten behind the same schools: Michigan State (No. 1), Indiana (5), Michigan (7) and Northwestern (9). ESPN has not yet published class rankings for 2018.

in regards to the final player in the '18 class, ohio state might be well-served to just sit back and watch things unfold a bit. lots of players are almost certain to reopen their recruitments, and plenty others are going to change their top 5 lists.
The way things are unfolding in the college basketball ranks waiting is probably our best option. We just have to be careful of what type of sneaker the recruit is wearing.
