b10 title, big ten title/national runner up, top third of the big ten

signed me up to repeat that three year burn cycle every time...

You are swinging my words around...They got burned in terms of a kid that they thought was going to be here longer...They weren't thinking of the idea of him leaving, or they would of recruited a PG in either the 06' class or 07 for sure, and the cycle would not of had to start over, or had an NIT in there...

That's been the problem. Not many schools have four "one and done's" in two years. Even without Conley, Cook would have kept this team out of the NIT.

The 06-07 squad was only nine players strong and five left. We are laughing at IU for being in only slightly worse shape. Yet, had the three Frosh made the same decision to stay that the kids in Florida did we would have challenged for the NC again last year.

And let's go easy on dissing OSU because they aren't sustaining like UNC. Just be glad we are being mentioned in the same breath.

I am wondering with the offer to Smith out of Chicago what this is saying about our possibility of getting Sibert. It mentions in the BN free article about 2010 that Sibert might want to commit before his junior year. It seems like they are looking at a lot of wing players but the only big guy they have offered has been Payne. Of course that does not come Sullinger and Thomas.

I know what you are saying but some of these guys have got to be better than some of the others. It's almost like putting names into a hat.

What they will do is push the guy they really want...If the kid really wants to go to a school, they will let their intentions known when nudge a little, if you don't think they do then you fill their spot...

Think back to Evan Turner's recruitment, when there was talk we were the early leader, then he wanted to look around and go see all schools, then there was talk that we offered Tyus and were going to push for him, which the staff told Turner and then all of a sudden after saying like 2 weeks earlier he was going to wait, he committed...

ill be more blunt. its like working with cattle, sometimes you talk nice to them, sometimes you nudge them along, sometimes you push them, sometimes you have to resort to a swift kick in the ass...

Recruiting, scheduling and an alumni update
Dribbles of information:

- Ohio State coaches? annual August vacations have been put off for a bit while they get at least a couple of top 2010 prospects on campus for a look around.

Lenzelle Smith, a 6-foot-3 guard from Zion, Ill., visited last week and received an offer from coach Thad Matta, Rivals.com reported, after leading his AAU team to a sixth-place finish in the 16-and-under nationals in Orlando, Fla.

Anthony Johnson, a 6-3 guard from Chicago, also plans to visit, possibly as soon as this weekend.

Matta had hoped to host an ?elite camp? this weekend for prospects such as Smith and Johnson, but the rules of a number of high-school athletic associations against their student-athletes participating in August camps scotched the plan.

If Matta wants to have such a camp in the future to expose potential recruits to the Ohio State facilities, he may have to schedule it in June, when the participation ban does not exist.
