OSU Men's Basketball Recruiting/Projections/General Discussions

The B1G guarantees scholarships for 4 years across all sports.

Bronny will only be in college 1 year as his dad wants to play with him in the NBA. A team will take Jr. to get Sr. I think Jr. has NBA potential, but would normally be a 2-3 year college to prove his skill set as he has PG size.

I agree, he'll be a one and done at best. If he isn't ready for the NBA after 1 year in college some team will sign him anyway based on his potential development. Hell, the Lakers did that this year signing "son of Shaq" to a Summer League deal and "son of Scottie Pippen" to a G League deal.

Potential isn't the main factor in a team wanting Bronny, IMO. I believe LBJ has already indicated publicly that he wants to join whichever team his son gets drafted by. Some team will definitely pick Bronny in the 1st round to get the GOAT - even just for his final years.

SCOTTY MIDDLETON, TAISON CHATMAN, DEVIN ROYAL AND AUSTIN PARKS SIGN NATIONAL LETTERS OF INTENT WITH OHIO STATE

Chris Holtmann has inked a top-10 nationally-ranked recruiting class for the second straight year.

All four of Ohio State’s 2023 pledges, including Scotty Middleton, Taison Chatman, Devin Royal and Austin Parks, made their commitments official Wednesday by signing their National Letters of Intent. While the Buckeyes’ 2022 class ranked No. 6 in the country on signing day, the ‘23 haul is even more elite, slotting in at No. 5 in the nation per the 247Sports composite.

Only Duke, Kentucky, Michigan State and UConn have higher-ranked classes, which makes Ohio State’s 2023 group the second-best haul in the Big Ten. The No. 5 ranking is Holtmann’s highest since taking over as Ohio State head coach in 2017.

The Buckeyes signed three four-star, top-50 overall prospects and one three-star recruit. The most highly touted of the bunch is 6-foot-6, 180-pound wing Scotty Middleton, who ranks 38th in the country, seventh at his position and No. 3 in the state of Kansas, where Middleton plays high school basketball at Sunrise Christian. The Miami native committed to the Buckeyes on Aug. 7 and is considered one of the top defenders in the country. Middleton could play multiple positions at Ohio State, and although he’s categorized as a small forward on 247Sports, the Buckeyes may use him as a combo guard at the college level.

In signing 2023 class, Ohio State basketball sees 'really special' years on horizon

Whatever Ohio State looks like in the coming years, Sean McNeil won’t be around the program to experience it.

A graduate transfer from West Virginia, the sharpshooting guard is assuming a significant role while playing his final season of college basketball with the Buckeyes. Wednesday afternoon, though, McNeil was seated to the left of freshman teammate Bruce Thornton, one of five members of a 2022 recruiting class ranked among the nation’s top 10 according to 247Sports.com as he peered into the future.

McNeil has logged one official game with that group. Wednesday, coach Chris Holtmann spent the majority of his 20-minute press conference detailing the signing of a four-man 2023 class that currently sits among the nation’s top five classes and is expected to mesh with this year’s freshmen to give the Buckeyes a deep, formidable roster.
