I was pleased with the winners in the major categories.

I enjoyed Crash and haven't seen Brokeback, but I'm glad it didn't win best picture. But I had no problem with Ang Lee winning for Best Director, since it was his third nomination.

Philip Seymour Hoffman has been consistently good over the past decade, and recently seeing actual clips of Truman Capote showed me that Hoffman nailed that role.

I had no problem with Reese Witherspoon winning. I'm glad the Desperate Housewife didn't win for getting an ugly make-up job.

I would have preferred Giamatti over Clooney. I didn't see Syriana, but in the clip they showed he didn't seem to be much different than his characters in ER or Ocean's Eleven. It seemed like he got the nod because the Academy also liked what he did in 'Good Night, and Good Luck'.

I didn't see most of the movies that had the supporting actress niminations, so I can't judge that one.
