Oscar De La Hoya vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr.

While I believe Mayweather will win I hope De La Hoya knocks his fucking teeth out.
I assume it is for your dislike of Floyd? I could never cheer for Oscar, seems like a big phony and he has always been overrated. Love him or hate him Floyd is the best fighter I've ever seen, his destruction of Gatti was a must see. Not that Gatti is a great fighter per se but he just beat the hell out of him and I don't know if Gatti actually landed a good punch all fight. I don't think Oscar will get beat up as bad, but I hope he does.:wink2:

Although I don't think he's as overrated as you seem to I'm not a big De La Hoya fan. Mayweather is clearly the best pound for pound fighter in the world but he just talks too much shit for my liking. I'd love to see someone shut him up, be it Oscar or anyone else. I guess until that happens he can keep running his mouth.

I would bet my first born son on Jr. if I could....

No fucking way will he lose. Mayweather is the best boxer on the planet today. Oscar has some fight in him, and has never backed down from anyone but look at his record as his biggest wins are against the likes of Mayorga and Vargas. The other big fights that Oscar had vs Trinidad and Mosley he had lost.

I also thought that Mike Tyson would never get knocked the fuck out either.

A lot of your typical sports bars like Damon's, BW3, etc won't show it because it is a family Restaurant. Bars can show the fight but I believe they have to pay for each tv they show it on.. but I am sure that happens.

Anyway, I am sure you can find a local watering hole showing it.

All in on Mayweather!

gbear, the Panini's around campus shows UFC pay-per-views. At least they did when I was in town for the Penn State game last fall. You may want to try there.

There was a sportsbar in Arlington, the name of which has slipped me, that used to show pay-per-views as well (pro boxing, pro wrestling). It was close to the topless restaurant.

You can see whats going on with the fight here....

ROUND 1
De La Hoya dictates the tempo in Round 1, but Mayweather connects on the cleaner shots. SI CARD: 10-9 Mayweather

ROUND 2
Big second round for De La Hoya. I don't know what the strategy is in Mayweather's corner, but allowing Floyd to be pushed against the ropes shouldn't be it. Mayweather looks a little tight. SI CARD: 10-9 De La Hoya

ROUND 3
Oscar seemingly can control the tempo of this fight. De La Hoya was excellent with the jab and landed a couple of potent power punched. SI CARD: 10-9 De La Hoya

ROUND 4
Tremendous defense by De La Hoya. Floyd's jabs are getting nowhere near Oscar's head and De La Hoya's counterpunches are finding their mark. Right now, De La Hoya is the more active fighter. SI CARD: 10-9 De La Hoya

ROUND 5
A near-knockdown of De La Hoya by a terrific short right hand by Mayweather has hurt De La Hoya. Another late right nearly sends De La Hoya to the canvas. Big round for Mayweather, De La Hoya may still be hurt. SI CARD: 10-9 Mayweather

ROUND 6
A few flurries by De La Hoya, who still looks stunned from Mayweather's assault last round. But his hands are lower than they were in the first round and Mayweather is picking him apart from the outside. Edge on big shots to Oscar. Round to Mayweather. SI CARD: 10-9 Mayweather

ROUND 7
Oscar needs to throw the jab more. Floyd laughs every time it connects, but De La Hoya's stinging jabs are keeping Mayweather at bay. Eventually, it will lead to a bigger punch. SI CARD: 10-9 De La Hoya

ROUND 8
De La Hoya's jab is clearly the most effective punch of the night. De La Hoya, however, appears to be tiring. His hands are down, and he is throwing the jab with less frequency. A late flurry by De La Hoya isn't enough. SI CARD: 10-9 Mayweather

espn.com's assessment of round nine:

Round 9
Stiff jabs from De La Hoya, but a solid right hand lands from Floyd. Beautiful six-punch sequence from Floyd, beginning with short uppercut and ending with overhand right. Oscar flurries again, but Mayweather parries very well with his arms. Right hand downstairs from Floyd is borderline, but he lands a solid right to the head. Straight right from Floyd.
Dan Rafael scores it: De La Hoya, 10-9
Kieran Mulvaney scores it: De La Hoya, 10-9
