He played tight and they had a month to gameplan. Week-in, week out, Oregon is sub par on defense.
No doubt, which is why it was pretty bizarre (but not nearly as much as drafting him #1 a few months later).
USA today ranks them 26th. Surprisingly ahead of Wisconsin.
Wisconsin's rushing attack masks their solid not great defense, especially without Borland.

Except when they choose to abandon it at crucial moments and go all Boise State on their opponent.

Suspended indefinitely which means it could be a few hours ar by God, maybe even a few days!
Cliff's future clearly is in Cliff's hands," Kelly said. "Earning an opportunity to represent the University of Oregon and this football program certainly rests far beyond a player's ability on the field of play. Our behavior out of the spotlight often is more important and will be held to a higher standard. Until Cliff is able to conform to the same standards all of us must comply with, his status will remain unchanged."

LeMichael James was suspended for the opener last year, which was a home game with New Mexico that ended up 72-0.

This year the Ducks open in Dallas against LSU, so we'll see if 'indefinitely' includes a game against a probable top-5 opponent.

Somehow, I think he'll "serve out his punishment," "get things right with his teammates" and "earn a vote of their confidence" by opening day.

The suspension apparently includes the LSU game at a minimum.

Yeah, I didn't click the ESPN link to read the article.

Apparently the employee that rented the car is named Mindy Schmidling, who said that she was told another player besides Harris would be driving. She is a 'payroll specialist' in the Business Affairs Office at the U of Oregon.
