I might need some guidelines on bashing vs criticism please.

So if I say something like "If I see one more GD defensive back face guard and not turn their head and look for the damn ball I am driving to Cbus and kicking Coombs in the nuts".

Because that may be less harsh depending on the score of what I am probably going to say.
I would consider that comment problematic. The first part is fine, being critical of a technique being coached. But for the frustration with that to result in saying that you’ll kick a coach in the nuts is a problem. Although it’s not a serious threat (I’m willing to grant the benefit of the doubt on that), mentioning physical assault of a Buckeye goes too far.

So instead of saying that, how about saying you’ll e-mail Coach Day demanding a change.

And for everybody posting in the game thread, other examples of what’s OK and what’s not:

For players, OK:

Damn, he’s got to make better decisions than that.
He took the wrong angle again, that’s costing the defense big time.
He’s got to keep his head up when making a tackle.
I would rather see player A get more carries than player B.

For players, not OK:

He sucks!
Bench him!

It’s OK to have opinions and comment on players that make mistakes, but just remember they’re young and they’re out there trying. They want to win at least as much as any of us. Think twice before posting something negative.

We moderators don’t want to spend a lot of time making decisions and going through a temporary ban process and the like. And we won’t take the time to debate with somebody during the game what’s OK and what’s not. We may simply delete a problematic post and deal with it later.

Try to enjoy the game, and Go Bucks!
