Of course, it's all about eyeballs. FOX pays a ton of money for broadcast rights so that it can make even more money by actually broadcasting the games. And if noon is the most profitable time slot, then you're gonna get noon games.Until ratings drop for FOX, they'll continue to do this. They don't give a damn if it has a negative affect on recruiting, fan experience, ticket sales, etc... It's all about eyeballs on tv screens for them.
The impact of recruits visiting for games has always been overrated, and it is even more overrated now with early signing and spring/summer official visits. Ohio State signed it's best ever class in 2021 with no official visits for games (no on-campus visits at all, except for late signee J.T. Tuimoloau).Just wait until Ryan Day wants a kid from Florida or Georgia to visit for the biggest game of the year and that kid, instead visits, say, Bama/Ole Miss because he can make the 2:30 kick but couldn't make it to Columbus by noon.
Fans like to think that recruits are super impressed by 105,000 screaming fans. Most are not. Why? Because the recruits aren't going to school to be fans, they're going to school to start careers as professional football players, and game-day atmosphere has basically nothing to do with how well a school can prepare a kid for the NFL.
As a s side note, coaches don't really like having recruits make official visits for game days. Especially night games. They're kinda busy with other things.
