Some of what you said I agree with. But the fact that JT was better than Braxton and Pryor? I don't think so. Braxton ran for 1500 yards in an undefeated season. Pryor threw for 4 tds in his first start and very routinely picked up 3rd and longs with his legs. If not for tattoo gate he was the Heisman front runner on the preseason #1 team.
Pryor, Braxton, Haskins (RIP) , Fields, Stroud, Howard... I am sorry but Fahey just doesn't have the God-given talent to play QB at OSU. Just like 99.999999% of the population. Its not a rip on him, from all we hear he's a great kid and gives everything he has.
I agree that TSC can throw a great deep ball. His long strides also eat up yards. I would play him and run the Cardale Jones offense. Run it down their throats, then play action deep. 4 is still the best player and deserve at least a chance on deep balls
as an operator of the offense? Yes. Which is a lot more important in a day offense than an urban one.
The Cardale offense worked for a month, and somehow got worse with everyone back and Braxton miller moonlighting as the 5th weapon on offense. Because they couldn't replace Darryl baldwin. Ironically enough the same reason they have slipped since Josh Fryar walked out the door.
Cardale also had a lot more talent than than JT.
Long strides are nice. Tsc and bryce are both agile pro style QBs, that are both extremely raw, and unlike Pryor/Braxton, are not superior athletically to most of the defenders they are facing off against. TP and Braxton just clowned on virtually everyone they faced from an athletic disparity standpoint.
You also have to know where to go with the ball and your feet, and so far those two current college backups aren't very good at that. It's awfully early to write off tsc, because no one was stupid enough to hurt their program and the kid by giving him 13 M like Michigan did. He can keep growing and either fight for his shot next spring or find someone who will give him a shot. Lot of time and potential for him.
I'm keenly aware of their otherworldly abilities. And we never got to see them in their final seasons at qb. But JT Barrett was much, much more efficient read option quarterback than either of them and he was that way instantly.
He was the best short yardage running back in school history. He also happened to be a pretty decent passer. I would submit we never truly saw his final year or two as a QB either with all of the punishment urban subjected him to.
The same operational weakness that TP/Brax had existed with denard Robinson. Also an all timer for Michigan from an athleticism standpoint at QB, but poor operator of the option.
