Great points. I'll add to it by saying that I'd imagine alot of the media doesn't know who to kill simply because every league has had embarassing losses.

ACC - take your pick
SEC - Ole Miss, come on Down
Big10 - Minny
Big12 - Kansas
Big East - Take your pick :shake:

Perhaps the PAC 10 has faired the best thus far...what do you think?

The Pac-10 has had three games worth looking at so far in my estimation:

  • Oregon State vs. TCU - LOSS
  • Washington vs. BYU - LOSS
  • Oregon vs. Tennessee - WIN
Maybe they haven't had anybody embarrass themselves, but out of the group they've only had one team prove anything affirmatively.

EDIT: Actually, I take that back. UCLA should be embarrassed right now.

Perhaps

But what is the Pac 10 soon to be 12's best win so far?

They'll get a chance this coming weekend with Iowa heading to Tuscon.

Utah looks as good as anyone currently in that league. I don't think this game against the Vols proves anything about the Duck defense.

I love this strictly cause I was in a bar in Nashville and a guy named Chip with a T tatooed on his leg butted into my conversation and asked when Ohio State is going to get fast. I replied that they are much faster than UT... The music stopped (not really). He then asked me what have they done lately and I said beat Oregon in the Rose bowl. He said that impresses no one in the SEC.... lmfao at this game and Chip from Nashville

They'll have their chance this weekend.

Nebraska @ Washington
Houston @ UCLA
Iowa @ Arizona
Louisville @ Oregon State
USC @ Minnesota
Arizona State @ Wisconsin
Washington State @ SMU
Wake Forest @ Stanford

Bold are my predictions for them to win. I've got some flack for saying Arizona will be Iowa but I'm just going with my gut here. Arizona has a good offense, they're at home and their D should be good enough. I also wouldn't be surprised if USC loses to Minnesota.

I just do not understand why Arizona State continues to be very average. Every advantage is going their way.

Decent school, pretty town and location, regional support, good facilities, great co-eds.

IMO - it's a sleeping giant. Getting a young and motivated staff in there, pulling 15 recruits a year from California, Nevada, Texas and you can build a helluva program.

No kidding. Even John Cooper won there.

I think the bolded part is the key. Dennis Erickson is past his prime, and I can't imagine a kid who is thinking about the next 3-4 years of his life committing to a coach who is college football's version of Larry Brown.

I remember listening to a radio show once with Bill Frieder who used to coach basketball there. He too thought Arizona State was a sleeping giant but it's never worked out that way. His thoughts were that the university just doesn't have the commitment it takes to be a top program, the facilities aren't that great and there's no tradition. Most of the people that live in Phoenix are transplants and most of the top prospects go elsewhere.

No kidding, they should've stuck it out with Dirk Koetter.

Not a stretch to say Arizona can beat Iowa. Iowa better not sleep walk that game. I hate Minnesota, but it would be epic if they could beat USC. It might be the only time I cheer for them.

Same with UCLA. It's a good school, get to play in the Rose Bowl, it's in LA which means you already have an advantage over most schools for recruits. Overall, they have great athletic programs although basketball is king there. They have some tradition. Never did like their coach though, which could be a problem.

Not to mention the baggage from the shit he pulled here...

He's a perennial dirtbag

He left Oregon State a little botched up with his early departure, but at least they had their best years ever under him, and thankfully he didn't leave a near-death-penalty in his wake.
