Game Thread Orange Bowl: tOSU vs Clemson, Jan 3, 8:30 ET, ESPN

No one expected 2002...but expecting a top 35 calibur defense should be normal, and has been normal, here for a long time. The precipitous dropoff is worrisome, and it wasn't just this year.
I am hopeful given the amount of talent we are bringing in this year, but I think next year could be a rebuilding year too. I am more of a defensive minded guy myself, but I do not see the current talent giving us a top 35 defense, especially with the poor coaching in the secondary. Vonn Bell may turn out to be a special player though.

That wasn't the point, idiot. It wasn't a slam at UM but at the quoted post that called this a satisfying season. And The Game or no game, Cooper was known for [Mark May]ting the bed in the last two games of the season, just like our defense did this year.

That's not really fair. The defense shit the bed all season, not just in the last two games.

Yes, recruiting the right players for the system he want to deploy both on O and D
The next time we play a defense with a pulse (Wisconsin 2012, MSU 2013) we also can't run student body right with Miller every play, either. Offensive playcalling can't turtle shell when the big boys are playing (in their big boy pants)

The bigger question for Buckeye fans is this: Can Braxton play at a championship level in college? Based on his performances against Michigan State and Clemson, the answer would be a resounding "NO".

Agreed. If he goes pro, good luck, he's going to need it. And honestly, if he goes pro that might allow this program to move forward.

Few things. I had been yelling for the last few series that Kenny needed to come in. Braxton looked shell shocked after his last hit.
How did the coaches not pick up on that?

And NO Hyde in our last series? Our best offensive weapon!!! He would have at least made the linebacker freeze.

Oh, and a bubble to the BOUNDARY?? Great fucking call, Herman. Especially with a defense attacking the LOS.

Defensively ourselves, played scared, play calls were scared all night. I'm usually not in the crowd of people screaming emotionally
that coaches need to lose their jobs, but Fickle shouldn't last the night. Herman once again went away from the TE seams and Hyde late.
He's his own worst enemy.

I"m heading to bed. Part of me is glad this season is behind us - I'm emotionally drained. Excited to see how the young pups bite for the spring.
