Actually, I think that Ohio State should go to 1 or 2 conference games a year, and play more bad out of conference teams. That way, we'd be more like Notre Dame, the greatest college football program of all time.A Pac;1781328; said:My cousin and I were talking last week about Ohio State's schedule. He is a huge Ohio State fan and pretty knowledgeable about football. He brought up an interesting point. Instead of playing 8 Big Ten teams every year, he wishes they would play less bad out of conference teams and all 10 (11 soon) teams in the season. You can still play 1 or 2 out of conference games, but you would also play every other conference school as well.

While it's one less home game, I assume the higher profile game translates to more t.v. $$$ (USC is a good example - those were both Saturday night marquis games weren't they?). The other benefit obviously being better SOS and hopefully better bowl game opportunities if you schedule the better teams. I like them just because it makes for some interesting matchups and better football to watch early in the season.
Yep, I don't think TV money comes anywhere close to making up for the loss of (sellout) ticket revenue for the extra home game because you don't have to offer EMU a home/away.fourteenandoh;1781900; said:I don't think ABC pays more to show a top 10 matchup than they do to show any other game. Therefore, I would venture to guess that a home and home is more of a 50/50 split of revenues for both games in the series. There is probably a good chance that we made more playing EMU than we did playing Miami. Those games aren't done for the money as much as they are for the strength of schedule.

where the hell did that come from?
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio State will pay Colorado $1.4 million to come to Ohio Stadium next season and play the Buckeyes.
Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith confirmed on Tuesday that the Buffaloes will visit Columbus on Sept. 24, 2011.
It is not part of a home-and-home or multi-game contract.
"That's just a single," Smith said. "It worked out to be a good deal. Mike Bohn, the AD there, had an interest in coming this way, so we were able to lock that down."
