And for whatever it's worth, the person who did leave the comment had almost no impact on your rating whatsoever. They have almost no reputation themselves, don't have a strong posting history or presence, and fall short in all the other areas that determine how much swing their reputation gifts or hits have. So while you got the comment, your rating itself was basically unmoved.

Reputation is a balance, you have to look at it all from the big picture, and not necessarily from individual comments. I think in time it will be useful to those people who don't opt out of it in terms of trends.

And like I said, it's an area that will get more polished in time. Right now I have much bigger fish to fry in terms of getting things online before the season.

BuckeyePlanet is an invaluable resource of knowledge and commentary - football and otherwise. The recent contributions of exhawg, osugrad21, 3yards et al are of a quality that deserve far more praise than I can heap on in one post. It distresses me a bit that certain folks are this concerned with their reputation points. Clearly it's something of an issue that people are being needlessly antagonistic with their comments, but the key point has already been touched upon:

Blow it off.

EDIT: Oh, I guess I should put this thread back on topic. Don't sweat the small stuff USCemper. You've still got quite a good "rep" going for you. That's quite impressive for a "rival" member with a fairly low post total. As other have pointed out, this sytem (rep points) really is revealing in the long term. A couple stupid comments and negative points will be had by all. Just be glad that some "clown" like Bucknutty isn't stalking you on an internet site!
