OL Nicholas Petit-Frere (1st Team All American, Tennessee Titans)

Suspended for 6 games for sports gambling at the Tians' facility, but not on football. I get the rules on gambling on NFL games completely, but I would like to know the logic behind this one because it seems ridiculous. Especially a 6 game suspension, hopefully NPF can successfully appeal to reduce the suspension.
Just sayin'; Hopefully he can get the suspension reduced or eliminated on an appeal.

"Firstly, I wanted to say that it's an honor to play in the NFL, and it has been a blessing to play this game," Petit-Frere said. "The NFL plans to announce another round of sanctions regarding its gambling policies, and I will be included in this group of players receiving a six-game suspension. The betting I engaged in was NOT NFL related and was legal under Tennesee law. It is only being sanctioned because it occurred at the Titans facility.

"I want to apologize to my family, coaches, teammates and Titans fans. I have always strived in every stage of life to follow the rules. I did not knowingly break the rules. Even after attending a league presentation, I was unaware about the specifics around placing bets from a team facility. ... I will do everything in my power to help the team during training camp and will be prepared when I return to the roster during the season."

Me too but this statement will not help his cause imo by admitting to a violation of the (dumb) rule. Or maybe he knew the evidence of a violation of the rule was there and a show of remorse was the best route. The gambling on sports from the facility rule needs to be scrapped. Gamble on NFL games, sure. But this part of the rule is dumb.

  • Jerome Baker and Isaiah Prince both made their debuts with the Tennessee Titans in Week 11. Baker recorded eight tackles while Prince played 29 snaps at right tackle – replacing fellow former Ohio State offensive tackle Nicholas Petit-Frere, who started the game but was benched midgame – in the Titans’ 23-13 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
