Marcus has approximately 24 offers now and still has tOSU, USC, and Illinois as leaders. He will attend practices at tOSU and Illinois and says he will likely attend tOSU's spring game.

However, defensive tackle seems to be an area where we need to improve on from last season. To the folks who have seen him play and who feel confident in analyzing his film: can Hall improve our depth at DT? Does anybody think he will compete for a spot there if he were to become a Buckeye?
Everybody's responses are appreciated, thanks.

crazybuckfan40;1140039; said:I wouldn't say all the way...I would say that he has the talent to play on the defensive side of the ball and if the need would happen to arise I think he could pull it off, but with that said he is being recruited for the offensive side of the ball, so you would have to assume that is where he will end up...
schultgb;1140047; said:I'm sure he has the talent to play on defense, but his talent on the offensive side of the ball had him being referred to as the most impressive OT at the Army All American Combine, and whatever the staff does in a hypothetical situation is pure specualtion. I was saying he is being recruited "all the way" as an OL, based on everything I've read and what the insiders are including him as.

Hall has attention-grabbing size and is an impressive drive blocker at the point of attack. He takes a good short first step. Has both the strength to create movement and the ability to handle a slant tackle. Moves his feet well on contact and locks on to defenders. Can drive his man off the line of scrimmage and tends to finish effectively. Needs to come off the ball lower and deliver more of a punch with his hands to develop into a truly dominant base blocker. Must bend more at the knees in order to get better leverage against bigger defensive linemen. Excels on down blocks and often wipes out his side of the line as he plows inside. He's especially impressive in short-yardage and goal-line situations, when he tends to play with lower pad level. Probably shows best on double-team and combination blocks, for which initial movement and knocking back the defender are crucial elements. Seems to be a better run blocker than pass blocker at the moment. Tends to overextend in pass protection. Gets too straight-legged and on the balls of the feet, making it tough for him to maintain balance, move laterally and change directions. Has to make his hands work in unison with his feet more consistently. Needs to sit back in his stance more and get better inside hand position on pass rushers. If Hall can play lower off the line and become more reliable in pass protection, he'll develop into an outstanding offensive tackle. For now, he shows flashes of greatness but needs to improve his consistency.
Three programs in the lead for Marcus Hall
Marcus Hall, an ESPN 150 Watch List offensive tackle, told affiliate website Bucknuts.com, "Ohio State, Illinois and USC are still my top three. Ohio State is my favorite. USC is second."
Several other premier programs have extended offers to the highly coveted Hall such as Michigan, Oklahoma, Florida State, Miami-FL and West Virginia.
Marcus Hall, offensive tackle, Glenville, 6-foot-5, 295 pounds, ranked as the No. 11 prospect by Scout.com and the No. 34 prospect by Rivals.com
Hall's top six teams at the moment begin with Ohio State and also include USC, Illinois, Michigan, Florida State and Florida.
We know the Illini have been chasing him hard. As for the Buckeyes?
"They've been pretty aggressive," Hall said. "I've had several meetings with Coach Tressel. So they're aggressive, but they're not forceful."
And not surprisingly, his visit for Ohio State's spring game made an impression.
"It really showed me a lot about Ohio State fans, since it was raining and I didn't think there would be a lot of people but there were."
His plan at the moment is to take all five of his allowed official visits in the fall, but he realizes he might not make it to all the schools he plans to visit.
"I'm not saying I have to wait," Hall said. "I'll probably think about it for a while, but then again if I go to a place and I feel like it's home, I just might commit then."
