OL Marcus Hall (The Bird Man of Ann Arbor)

WOW....Hall blew it by what he did but that was way too strict a punishment. Urb's missed it on this one.

Perhaps it is a bit much... but I like that he's holding players to a strict standard.

I don't care to compare it to what other coaches or programs would have done. I think if Coach Meyer went light on this kind of punishment he'd be betraying his own words when he talks about what a tremendous privilege to play for Ohio State.

Could not agree more. I feel really bad for Marcus. I mean how many people at Michigan Stadium or in the TV audience that solve those 2 fingers had never given one of them before. I do not know what Urban was trying to do but I think it almost could send a negative message to some people. For a senior to be punished like that for what he did is just unbelievable:shake:

I don't get the seeming inconsistency in that Wilson got to play but Hall didn't. Was it because it was deemed that Wilson was somewhat defending himself?
He was kicked out for the fight and held out for what he did going off the field. Urban has standards that were not met. Urban is in a can't win situation damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. Standards are standards, do the crime pay the time.

Marcus did apologize for his two fingered salute. I do not know what else the guy could have done. I mean he was coming out to defend a teammate and got thrown out of the game and that is what triggered the two fingered salute. To Suspend him for one half what had been punishment enough!

Urban is probably more pissed off by the actions of Hyde,Roby,Wilson, and Hall this year than the loss to MSU. I think this is the big change in Urban from Florida..he's not going to put up with behavior he doesn't like to win games.

Ridiculous. Sit him for a series, maybe a quarter. Sitting him for the game wasn't fair to him and it wasn't fair to the team.

A senior leader getting himself tossed from the M*ch*g*n game isn't fair to the team either. He made his own bed.

Elflein played really well in his absence. Marcus Hall being benched had no bearing on the outcome of this game in my IMO. Elflein allowed them to do all of the same things that they needed to do to win.

Maybe we should have a phone call:biggrin2: But in my opinion the penalty far outweighed what Marcus did. I agree with your second paragraph.

I don't like it just b/c of how that whole thing got spun in the media.
From all the crying in the media about how Urban lets players get away with everything, you'd think he had been accused of rape.
Meanwhile nothing but "not charged" from the media about Winston.
Well, guess what, flipping the thugs in Ann Arbor off isn't a crime; Hall wasn't charged with anything either.

And then considering how that fight was orchestrated by scUM to begin with... and they got off scott free... it's a crock of bs.
Dantonio never punished Gholston for being a thug either. The Conference had to step in.

Today's sports media is much more concerned about hurt feelings than alleged crimes. Flipping people off hurts feelings.

I'm not sure about your reasoning here. I mean, I'm pretty sure everyone who was in the stadium that day has urinated before, in many cases where someone else could see it. Does that mean it would have been okay for Hall to run out to mid-field and take a leak on the block M?

Wait, maybe that's a bad example.
