OL Luke Wypler (All B1G, All-American, Cleveland Browns)

He had a tough first year. However, adversity makes one stronger. I'd bet vcash that Frye has taken Luke aside and gone over some tape with him, showing him what went wrong and how to correct it....stuff of teaching. He's got the right attitude, and, if tOSU had someone better, they'd be playing. So, from the sounds of things, the OL will be stronger than last year (which was still pretty darn special), and correct the prior year mistakes. And, having actual guards flanking him could/should/will have a 'helping' effect on the OL. Listened to Paris Johnson interview, and he recognizes that playing guard is a different animal than tackle. Still, having a 300 pound behemoth staring you in the face, and growling, knowing he's gonna smack you, while making sure your QB gets a good snap, is not a job description I'd want to have. So, overall, Luke is going to have a better year. Methinks that Coach J is going to hone him a bit, having some of tOSU's nose players pop him a bit, and as we all know, iron sharpens iron (or is it steel sharpens steel?). He'll be fine this year. Go Bucks!

I think 90% of his struggles could be attributed to physical development and strength, he was just getting pushed off the ball constantly. I'm sure there are some technical issue he can work on and remember he was quite young to be starting at center in the B1G, but really I just thought he needed a ton of Coach Mic time. Curious to hear how much weight he put on and how much he gained in his strength numbers. If he made significant jumps there, I have no concerns with Luke this year.

Agreed RB07, and it'll help to have a true guard 'looking out' for the center, as PJ jr noted in his interview, knowing where to look, how to help. Thought Coach Mick posted those somewhere? Maybe just the champions? Last year was surprised that Matthew Jones didn't step in for some Center reps. Believe he was #2 or something center coming out. Overall, believe we'll see some better Oline play. Frye seems to be quietly instilling that, while Knowles gets the pub. Go Bucks!

Good point, if Donovan is as good as billed, there should be quite a bit of improvement on the interior. We already know M Jones is a stud at guard and if Wypler makes the jump, there should be better running lanes inside. And I can't wait to see PJ Jr at LT, he is a natural fit there and has all the talent in the world. Dawand just needs to work on consistency and that first step with speedy edge rushers, and yes, I believe we should be even better on OL this year.
