Scout $ - USAAAB: Dodson Getting In-State Pressure

1/3

By Trieu...talks about the people who write him on Facebook about choosing OSU and says it can get annoying...enjoyed his visit to OSU and meeting UFM.

So pathetic, IMO. Coach Meyer doesn't need people who are really nothing more than complete strangers to a recruit trying to sway the kid to OSU. It's the reason we don't allow Facebook and Twitter posts here on BP...

What's even more sad is that most of them are probably over 25 years old...Get a LIFE!

BN - just had a conversation with Kyle Dodson

I was very disappointed to run into this the other day. Overzealous, ignorant, and potentially damaging.

Ohio OT '80 percent' committed to Wisc.
January, 3, 2012
By Jared Shanker

Cleveland Heights offensive tackle Kyle Dodson was firmly committed to Wisconsin for more than five months and was coming off his official visit to the Badgers when Ohio State forced Dodson to reconsider his options.

The Buckeyes named Urban Meyer its new coach on Nov. 28 -- one day after his official visit to Wisconsin ended -- and the three-star lineman is no longer 100 percent committed to the Badgers.

?I'm about 80 percent [committed to Wisconsin],? Dodson said.

I'd be happy with any 2 of Diamond, Dodson, OConnor, Kozan. Don't know if any of them are that excited about OSU though.
Nothing negative meant toward any of those guys - they're all upper-end recruits. But from my perspective, OSU has a sufficient number of guys who can plausibly play guard, but really needs some more guys who can plausibly play tackle. For that reason of specific need, it seems to me more urgent that OSU land a couple from among Dodson, Diamond, and Decker than any other OL generally thought to be on the radar for 2012 (and assuming all three of those guys have a legitimate shot at being D-1A tackles).

Being a fan but having never played, is there really a big difference between OT and OG? Guessing the further you are from center the quicker you need to be, but they're all hulking masses.

Yes, I think there's a pretty substantial difference. As some of the patchwork, guard-to-tackle experiments of the past few years will attest. A great guard can make a lousy tackle, and get your quarterback blown up over and over.
