OL Justin Boren (Official Thread)

Boren also disputes the notion that he left because he couldn't handle Rodriguez's offense.

"Was it my first choice? Hell, no. But I could have gotten acquainted," he says.

Rodriguez chooses not to comment on Boren. Ohio State's coaches have steered clear of the saga, as well. And neither Boren nor his father will comment specifically on Rodriguez.

"When I get done with college football, I'll let it out," Boren says.
What a tease. I wanna know now, gosh darnit!!!!

Ohio State football: Justin Boren speaks as a Buckeye

by Doug Lesmerises Thursday July 31, 2008, 2:57 PM

Time to start a new countdown clock for the Ohio State-Michigan game. Not for this season, but for 2009.
Justin Boren already has one ticking.
The former Michigan Wolverine transfered to Ohio State after burning new Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez with a quote about eroding family values that Rodriguez said is the thing that bothered him most this offseason.
Boren didn't talk to reporters after releasing that statement, but now the Sporting News snagged him for a lengthy story that boils down to this quote about his first appearance against Michigan as a Buckeye, which will occur after he sits out this season.
"I think about (that game) almost every day," Boren said. "It will be the happiest day of my life. It's going to be crazy. That's what I'm looking forward to, and it's all the better it's in Ann Arbor."
Let's remember what Michigan's Morgan Trent told me about his former teammate's statement: "I shouldn't even be talking about that because it's a joke to me. It was so untrue and the person who said it, you just have to laugh at."
Let the countdown commence.

I'm assuming the writer came up with that title in order to attract TSUN fans who would otherwise probably have skipped over the article... Because there's nothing in the whole piece that supports the notion that JB is in any way unsure or looking back over his decision to transfer.

Especially not with a slam-dunk ending like this:

I hit CTRL-C on the exact passage that you quoted and came back to this thread... and was not at all surprised that you had already posted my thoughts. Oh well...

Some perspective then: I was at Eastmoor when Mike Boren was there. Two guys that were in the class behind him, Byron Lee and Michael Kee, ended up at Ohio State. Mike was quoted in that TSN article that OSU shunned him.

Eastmoor was a mini-Glenville for OSU at the time. Their coach, Bob Stewart, had such a relationship with the OSU staff that he was made OSU's Special Teams coach near the end of his career. Bob Stewart coached all of the Griffin brothers, and he coached Mike Boren too.

What's interesting to me, is that Mike Boren was a more dominant linebacker at Eastmoor than either of the two that he played with that DID end up as Buckeyes.

Boren counting the days

August 1, 2008

Who says you can't go home again?

The Ohio-born Justin Boren did when he bolted Michigan last spring -- bemoaning the loss of Wolverines family values -- and ended up at Ohio State.
And he gets to do it again Nov. 21, 2009, when the Buckeyes call on the Wolverines.
"I think about (that game) almost every day," Boren said. "It will be the happiest day of my life. It's going to be crazy. That's what I'm looking forward to, and it's all the better it's in Ann Arbor."
That comes from a long, long piece on the offensive lineman at sportingnews.com in which he talks about many things, except exactly when he didn't fit in with Rich Rodriguez's program.
"When I get done with college football, I'll let it out," Boren said. But Jim Tressel and his staff? He loves those guys.
Boren said Team Tressel coaches "with class and emphasize education. They put what's most important first. Each player is important. There's no bashing of players. ... They treat each person with respect."

info on mike boren

daddy big bucks.......the reason mike boren didn't get an offer from osu and was a much better linebacker than bryon lee and mike kee is because it was earle bruces first year and he didn't recruit any of the central ohio players that year. bob stuart tried to get him to take either mike, keith griffin or mark harrison and he said no to each of them. so mike went to um and became a star player there as did griffin at miami and harrison went to wisconsin. also in cols that year was greg bell who went to notre dame and alfonso carreker who went to florida st. bruce said that none of them were good enough to get offers from osu. so major screw up for earle bruce. thats why after mike made it big at um as did the others at their schools bruce made sure to take any cols player who could walk and chew gum at same time just to quiet his critics.

Teddy took off like a rocket on this play...he was fast  Anyways, I doubt Trent will be laughing if Boren is pulling and comes his way. That would probably be the only thing that scares him more than man coverage.
