OL Justin Boren (Official Thread)

I just got off the phone with justin....

awesome, awesome young man.....very intelligent and well grounded.....

i'll post the entire interview tomorrow....but i will give a chris berman type breakdown since the topic is hot...

Info gleaned from talking:

-decision is 7-10 days out
-he has seen what he needs to see and the decision is made
-he was happy to hear that he graded out well at the michigan camp
-he feels comfortable right now in his decision

Now my 2 cents:
In my opinion, it seems that this great lineman is going to follow in his fathers footsteps and play for Michigan. Honestly, I can't blame him one bit for this decision....
He was initially going to be a buckeye b/c they were in on him early, but in the end....its no different than the buckeyes getting a shaun lane or a springs....

I am happy for Justin regardless of his choice...

Folks, this is a strenuous situation and I can appreciate that...

However, please do not lose focus on what this forum is about. If you need to blow a gasket or blame various "sources," you are advised to do so elsewhere.

Justin Boren is a 17 year old kid making an enormous decision under enormous pressure. Such a kid does not deserve any type of negative commentary from a disgruntled fan and he will certainly not receive that here.

I split this thread once....please make it the only time I need to do so.

i think its important to realize that this young man is following his FATHERS path to a school that he has grown up following the same way new buckeyes follow their buckeye fathers...

as a father myself i honestly think he is doing the right thing for himself and his family...

it's not like he ditched and went to some far away school for a dream of glitz and glamour...this is a great kid and a great family...

i hope he plays on sundays in five years...

Actually, I'm surprised that OSU got even the least bit of consideration, much less almost beat out Michigan - the fact that a Michigan legacy, who has been a lifelong Michigan fan, almost went to their arch-rival speaks volumes for Tressel & company, and for the Buckeye program in general.

I just want to offer some compliments to some classy individuals...nice comments guys..

It's good to see some people who understand...I think that Justin had a definite affinity for OSU and Tressel...but in the end, the draw of a team he grew up rooting for was the biggest factor...

I agree with what others have said that he truly cannot go wrong with either choice and that he will break some hearts wherever he decides. You get to play for one of the greatest football powers in NCAA history whoever you decide to play for and play in the greatest rivalry in sports. It will be disappointing if he does in fact head north, but I wish the kid good luck, even in the last game of the year(just hope he ends up with that third L of the season). Good Luck Justin.

Boren faces a little bit more than the usual "domestic pressure" to head to Michigan. Keep in mind that his younger brother was literally crying at just the thought of Justin going to Ohio State. That is one hard-core Michigan family...

I wish Justin the best! He's doin' what he feels is best for him. The state of OHIO produces some of the Greatest talent in the country! Gosh! We've got alot to be thankful for. We may have lost this battle, but not the war. GO BUCKS!!!

Yeah, I can't imagine someone in my family playing for Michigan. Thanksgiving would become a complete trainwreck. :bicker:

Oh well, I can't say that I blame him (if that does become his official desicion....).

Let's now hope that Connor feels the same "domestic pressure."
