OL Jim Cordle (Official Thread)

Rivals premium

Cordle said there were 4 commits (Cordle, Boone, Hartline and Worthington) and 4 uncommited recruits (Mathis, McCoy, Ashley and Robinson). According to Cordle this was not by accident, it gave them a chance to sell the uncommited recruits. He spoke to Ashley.

Jimmy was hosted by Lancaster alum Bobby Carpenter. He said he and the other recruits got a chance to watch the current players practice and they hung out with them.

He will graduate Jan. 14th and start tOSU in the Spring Qtr.

4 -- CORDLE BECOMES A BUCKEYE: Lancaster offensive guard Jim Cordle followed his heart, committing to Ohio State in April. The much-sought after lineman, a two-team First Team all-Ohioan twice voted Best Camper at OSU lineman camps, chose the Buckeyes over Notre Dame, Pittsburgh and West Virginia among other schools.

"We've had guys with potential, but no one with (Cordle's) size and strength," Lancaster offensive coordinator Tony Albertini said. "He's in a different league."

Cordle is graduating early from Lancaster and is expected to participate in spring ball at OSU. He joins Lancaster grad Bobby Carpenter with the Buckeyes.

Also in 2004, Lancaster running back Jon Carpenter committed to Cincinnati, where he saw considerable playing time this year. Offensive lineman Tom Stuck, state runner-up in the shot put, is considering Cincinnati, Miami and Purdue among others.

With all the updates on other '05 signees, I wonder what's new with Jimbo...

Forget exactly where I read the interview but Steve Rehring was asked about depth on the offensive line and as I recall he had very nice things to say about Cordle and said he should contribute this fall. It would be great to have Cordle take over for Mangold in '06 with some playing time under his belt.

From what I heard about him, and who I heard it from, I would say it would be shocking if he didn't.

I'm sure you're right. I meant to say "significant" playing time, whether that means the team is lucky enough to blow some people out so the young guys get to play more or he plays so well maybe Mangold slides to guard on occasion or he plays some guard himself.

It's going to be nice to finally have some depth up front. I'm still looking forward to seeing what Ben Person and Kyle Mitchum can do.

C'mon strohs, quit teasing us...
Haha, I'm trying not to!
I was just told he is as quick as you will ever see, quicker now than Mangold is.
When Alex Boone's name was brought up, he said, everyone talks about him (Boone), but who they should be talking about is Jimmy Cordle...
