The final decision had very little to do with football.
"Ultimately, after looking into everything it came down to the Engineering program," Toutant explained. "I want to study mechanical engineering. I would like to work in the automotive industry. Ohio State has a partnership with Honda and Ford right on campus. I had a list of very specific questions that I sent to the engineering department heads at both schools. Unfortunately, the answers to most of the questions from Penn State were 'no.' It's not that the program is bad or anything, they just don't offer what I specifically want to go into. The academic advisor from Penn State directly told me they did not have what I wanted. He gave me a few alternate options that I could look at but it just wasn't the same. Sadly, football doesn't last forever, and if I ever have a career ending injury I want to know I am at least leaving with an education and career I have always dreamed about."
