Yes, Fields is opening things up just like Barrett did. I will say I've rarely seen run lanes like we did tonight. Nebraska's defense has a LONG way to go.

This man deserves some major props after being much maligned last season. His unit has been ready to play and dominated thus far. Biggest thing I’ve noticed is at center. Anyone seen any bad snaps this season?

Bad snaps, false starts, holds are all down this season. This is a disciplined OL.

Having Fields certainly opens up the running game. But the middle of the oline is the biggest difference. Meyers, Davis, and Jackson have the mentality to maul defenders. No knock on the guys last year, but they didn't have that same attitude.

I believe part of the Oline looking so good is also partly due to the play calling and offensive scheme in general. Put Cardale back there and run the speed option and see how they look. In the past, there were times when we were so vanilla and predictable (cough MSU 15 cough) it was impossible to look good as an Olinemen. The play calling sucked and the scheme was worse, and the Oline took a ton of criticism when some of it wasn't their fault but the fault of some shitting coaching, and I am not talking about the Oline coach.

Jonah Jackson and Branden Bowen are both gone, but the expectation is for the offensive line play to actually be better in 2020. Thayer Munford struggled at times in 2019, but a number of the team's 35 sacks allowed can at least partially be attributed to a first-year quarterback under center; even if that first-year starter was someone as talented as Justin Fields.

Most are expecting Harry Miller to take over Jackson's vacant left guard spot, but right tackle may be a bit of a mystery at the moment. Petit-Frere's development has been a somewhat baffling dating back to his arrival in 2018, but he's put on weight and may very well be thrust into the right tackle spot with someone like Dawand Jones or Paris Johnson Jr. serving as the backup.

Not long ago, the depth along the line was a pretty big concern in Columbus. Now, the cupboard appears to be fully stocked with even more help on the way. Greg Studrawa was once viewed as the staff's "meh" recruiter and potentially even as a liability on the trail.

He's been anything but that for the last year and is showing no signs of slowing down.
