C Carson Hinzman (Official Thread)

The thought of landing an IOL from Wisconsin is like getting a QB, WR, or DB from Mater Dei (and with Lincoln Riley now at USC, that still will not ever happen). Teased one hundred thousand times, never ever materialized. I can’t believe it, and refuse to believe it until he’s in Columbus in pads and starting. Doesn’t seem real.

Paul Chryst not getting his choice is an indictment of Wisconsins program right now, IMHO.

Let's hope in a few years Mater Dei, or a few other schools in SoCal open up. Heck Bama was able to slide in and steal a Mater Dei QB

“I’m 100 percent behind [Buckeyes coach Ryan Day] and what his plan is, and you have to be,” Hinzman said. “You have to have full trust in that plan, and that’s one of the best ways I can deal with this situation we’re in right now – us and a few of the other guys – and I’m excited to go work with these guys.”

Hinzman now pauses, eyes widening and flashing a bit of a smirk as he points to Brown putting in work on the Alamodome field.

“Especially Devin, just throwing a 50-yard bomb right there,” Hinzman said. “I mean, I’m from a school that runs triple option so that’s like watching a spacecraft take off for the first time. So I’m excited to play for these boys and excited to go win a big, fat gold trophy in our case.”

That speaks to the way Hinzman has been raised throughout his childhood, and what he’ll soon bring to the Buckeyes’ offensive line.

Hinzman prides himself on his blue-collar mentality, which he says comes from his grandmother, who has worked on the farm throughout her life and who he still eats dinner with every night. And Hinzman has tried to emulate her work ethic as he’s grown up, leading him to the opportunity he’ll soon have to play at Ohio State.

“She works harder than anyone I've ever known,” Hinzman told Eleven Warriors. “She's the one who instilled that in me, and obviously now I can bring that down to Columbus.”
