Anderson
Division: I
Coach: Jeff Giesting (25-5)
Last year: 12-3 (4-1)
Last league title: 2007
Players to watch: Senior OL Andrew Norwell, senior OL Greg Mancz; senior RB Kyle Slater; senior TE Kevin Becker; senior QB Brandon Bornhauser; senior LB Jake Lackner.
Other key players: Senior DL Ty Knabb; senior DB Kevin Cripe; senior DL Michael James; junior LB Tony Martini.
Outlook: The Redskins seem well-fortified for their jump back up to Division I. Norwell, an all-state performer, anchors the offensive line and leads a solid running game, which should give Bornhauser room to grow into the job as Daniel Rod's replacement at quarterback. "We have a good, experienced group of seniors who are used to winning," Giesting said. "Moving up to Division I is a tremendous challenge and a chance for our players to compete against the best in Ohio. We should have a good offensive line and running game. Our quickness on defense is a strength."
The Anderson line, led by 6-foot-7 senior tackle Andrew Norwell, an Ohio State recruit, and 6-foot-5 senior tackle Greg Mancz, dominated the Rebels defense throughout the first half. Mancz has a scholarship offer from Toledo.
?We just did our job and worked hard this week in practice,? Norwell said. ?I think they were lacking a little size up front. The size up front helped us a lot and we just did well against them.?
Senior quarterback Brandon Bornhauser carried nine times for 202 yards and four touchdowns in the first half as Anderson built a 49-7 halftime lead. The Redskins led 35-7 after the first quarter.
?They got a surge on us, they got a push on us and their backs and their quarterback do a great job of finding things,? Thompson said. ?So they?re a great football team and they?re as advertised.?
Senior running back Kyle Slater scored two first-half touchdowns while carrying six times for 114 yards. The Redskins gained 368 total yards in the first half, 326 coming on the ground. Anderson finished the game with 460 rushing yards and 42 passing.
The Redskins' running game took a hit when All-Ohio tackle Andrew Norwell, a 6-foot-7, 285-pound Ohio State recruit, suffered a sprained ankle on the second series of the game and didn't return.

? Anderson coach Jeff Giesting confirmed Anderson senior OL Andrew Norwell is out for the season due to injury. He said the injury happened on the third play of the game ? the first play of Anderson?s second series Friday night at DeSales.
Giesting said Norwell will ?probably? miss the basketball season this winter. But, Giesting said Norwell is expected to be ready for his Ohio State football career.
?The doctors feel he will recover nicely and the injury should not affect his future at Ohio State,? Giesting wrote in an e-mail.
Giesting also said junior CB Chris Shingleton suffered a broken collarbone injury on Friday night. Giesting didn?t offer any other details on his status.
Anderson (4-0) plays Amelia on Friday night.
Bucknuts.com reported on Saturday afternoon that Norwell would be out for the season with a left ankle injury.
?I broke my tibia just above my left ankle,? Norwell reportedly told the Web site. ?I go for surgery (today). I?ll be out for three months.?
Norwell, one of the nation?s top players in the 2010 class, orally committed to Ohio State in February.
Anderson senior OL Andrew Norwell (6-7, 275) is out for the remainder of the season due to a tibia injury above his left ankle that he suffered Friday night in Columbus.

"The Army game is still up in the air," Anderson coach Jeff Giesting said. "Too early to tell."

Injury won't slow Norwell
By Dave Biddle
He is ranked as the No. 12 offensive tackle in the country by ESPN Scouts Inc., but his final high school season will always be remembered most for an injury.
Andrew Norwell of Cincinnati Anderson broke his left tibia during the fourth game of this season, immediately putting an end to his prep career.
Norwell verbally committed to Ohio State this past summer, and he's thankful the injury won't have an impact on recruiting. However, not being on the gridiron with his teammates has been a challenge.
