OL Alex Boone (Official Thread)

I will take a less than 100% Alex compared to a 100% Tim Schaffer any day of the week

You know what that brings up a great idea, although I doubt coach would see it that way. Alex being 90-95% is still pretty great. Tim Shafer has played well the past two weeks. We've got Brandon Smith out for this game and other than Nicol our TE's are very young and inexperienced. Why not slide Tim over to TE next to Boone, ala Tyree last year, and smash scUM in the mouth all day long! When they get tired of us gashing them and move up a LB'er or Safety you go three wides out of it with Pittman in the backfield. Either they respect the run and come up leaving single coverage, christmas for us, or they stay back and continue to get gashed where we control the clock with Pittman and Beanie. If someone has a playstation try that out. In my mind it sets up beautifully. How it would work on the field who knows? Could also go with Shafer moving down to guard and Boone or Rhering out on the end. Thats a jumbo lineup if I've ever seen one!

Easy now...we know you think Alex is great, but no need to bash a very capable replacement.

I am not bashing Schafer but there is no comparison between him and Alex. Schafer has his role and he is vitale for this team but its not a starting LT and yes, he played better against the purple people

OSU line an anonymous force
By RUSTY MILLER The Associated Press

COLUMBUS - They average 6-foot-6, have shoulders as wide as a door frame and a combined weight about half that of a new Corvette.

Yet somehow Ohio State’s offensive linemen go about their business almost undetected.

Ok, that's cool. What are the rules so my future article postings are done correctly?

No copy-n-paste of full articles...they've been following the general format that BKB used to edit your post, i.e., Title of article, quick summary or beginning of 'story', then provide link.

But you can do it many ways. Copy the specific paragraph of the article that you want to highlight regarding the specific player, info, etc. and provide the link to the full article.

They just ask to not copy full articles...allow those who want to read it in full to visit the providing site.

It's all about web hits, etc. :wink2:

There's a 'Sticky' Thread top of this page that goes into more detail as to why the change. "Posting Articles".

OHIO STATE FOOTBALL
Boone going with his gut
Tackle learns from bowl-game blowout

Tim May
THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

It?s a good thing that Alex Boone isn?t the type of person who runs and hides when times are tough, because at 6 feet 8 and 325 pounds, what would be his option?
But in the days that followed Ohio State?s 41-14 loss to Florida on Jan. 8 in the college football national-championship game, Boone, the Buckeyes? left tackle, was targeted in particular for many of the things that went wrong for Heisman Trophy winner Troy Smith and the offense. What people remembered most, it seemed, was Florida defensive end Derrick Harvey ripping past Boone on several occasions, bent on destroying Ohio State?s game plan. But that wasn?t fair or accurate to single Boone out, offensive coordinator Jim Bollman said yesterday after the sixth practice this spring.
