Carter was one of the main sources quoted in SI's five-part series that alleges players were paid by coaches and boosters and had an academic coordinator complete school work for them while at Oklahoma State.
Among the claims by Carter that are not supported by university documents were that he graduated from the school and attended classes in 2004 with running back Tatum Bell in which the professor gave them failing grades because their eligibility had expired.
Another discrepancy was from running back Dexter Pratt, who told SI that in his first semester, in 2009, every course he took was online. According to university records, Pratt took three online courses and two actual classes.
In Tuesday's SI report, Carter said he graduated from OSU with a degree in education. George Dorhmann, one of two SI reporters who wrote the stories, also said Tuesday on CBS Sports Radio's "The Doug Gottlieb Show" that Carter "has two degrees from Oklahoma State, spoke on the record, recorded. I have no reason to believe he lied. And he's certainly not disgruntled."
Carter didn't have two degrees. Carter attended OSU from 2000 to 2005 but did not graduate, according to the university's office of the registrar.
Carter also told SI that he and Bell were in the same class and got A's and then had the same instructor again for a class in 2004 but got F's.
"I'd guess that there was pressure [on the instructor] to give us those A's when we were playing, but not when we weren't," Carter told SI.
However, Bell wasn't at Oklahoma State in 2004. He withdrew from school after the 2003 fall semester, according to the OSU transcript he provided to ESPN.

One of the QB's accused was on Dan Patrick yesterday 'refuting' everything. When I heard Dorhams name mentioned I just started laughing. Looks to be the same tactics used here; find disgruntled guys who were given 4/5 chances with JT and offer them cash to talk. I shouldn't say SI offered cash, but I know ESPiN offered a certain artist cash to talk. Such bullshit.. still salty.

This was a 10 month investigation and they didn't bother to corroborate dates with the university records? I understand that such an action probably would have interfered with the storytelling, but c'mon.

You'd think as a matter of due diligence SI would have gotten an intern to do the tedious job of fact checking. They probably could have snagged one with NTSB experience.

Chantal Drumgole (née Sanders) an Orange Pride member during the 2003-04 academic year says there was a group within the group "and I am not that kind of girl, a groupie that is just about the football players and trying to sleep with the football players." A former Orange Pride hostess from the same year who asked not to be named recalls, "People did cross the line. That's why I was only in the program for one year. ... It was very disturbing. When I found out, that's why I quit."

It was so out of control that some hostesses quit the program because a handful of abhorrent jersey chasers were giving them bad reputations.
None of the more than 30 former players or the 14 former Orange Pride members who spoke to SI about the group had direct knowledge of a coach or athletic department staff member instructing a hostess to have sex with a recruit.

At the end of the day, it's not even an NCAA violation, since there is no evidence of Athletic Department personnel instructing/encouraging/arranging sex between hostesses and recruits.

What Dohrmann and Evans have is unsubstantiated allegations that some college girls want to bag football players. I'm SHOCKED.
