OHSAA Computer Playoff Rankings

The system is actually pretty fair. You get rewarded big by beating good teams, even if you would lose to bad ones.

If Beechcroft would have beaten Licking and Brookhaven, but lost to East, Centennial and Lincoln they'd be alot better off and probably make the playoffs, even if their record was 7-3. As it is, they probably won't make it without a little help (cheer for Alliance to lose), even with an 8-2 record.

Tell your AD to schedule on of the Cleveland city teams: none are good (except Glenville), but they're DivI and you get alot of points by beating them. That's what alot of teams around here (NE OH.) do.

the system defiently needs a exception, like making teams that go 10-0 and 9-1 automatic bids into the playoffs and then use the com. rankings to choose the other teams

or here's a idea, take all 10-0, 9-1 and hell maybe even 8-2 teams that didn't make it in and set up a playoff for those teams, so they can get some sort of prize for a good season

The system that we have in Ohio is quite effective. You are awarded for playing a tough schedule. Your primary points come from wins. The bigger the schools you defeat, the more primary points you get. Secondary points are rewarded when the team you beat wins other ball games. If schools want a better shot at making the playoffs they should beef up their non-conference schedule, it is that easy. A good example of this would be Lakewood St. Eds last year. They had to forfeit several games and ended up 4-6. I believe without the forfeits they would have been 9-1 or 10-0? Regardless, at 4-6, they still made the playoffs because of the teams they played throughout the year that they beat were very good ball clubs.

8 teams per region was a great change by the OHSAA. The 5-8 seeds since they have changed the rules have a decent record against 1-4 seeds in the opening round. That right there shows the change was a good one. (I wish I had the exact records, but I can't seem to find it anywhere). Another good example of the change being a positive one, would be in 2003. Marion Local just made the playoffs as an #8 seed. Marion Local made it all the way to the state championship game before falling 28-26 to Columbus Grove. Do they not belong because they were an #8 seed, I think not. So, I cant agree with some of you that having 8 teams per region is to easy. In some cases 5-8 seeds dont belong, but in some cases like this 5-8 seeds not only belong but deserve to be a part of the playoffs.

btw if we win out we might get in, we can't lose, thats for sure, but we have a good chance of winning out and getting into the playoffs with a 8th. seed, what we really need is for some of the teams ahead of us(1-7) to lose, if 2 or 3 lose we can move up to where we control our own future

where did you get that from we never faced lincoln this year

Here is our schedule

Independence W 49-6

Say Bye Bye Brookhaven to "reloading" every year with transfers from other schools

Starting Oct. 1, 2005 the City League has put into affect a new rule, a add on to the current transfer rule set by the OHSAA

OHSAA Transfer Rule:

Any athlete, girl or boy, any sport, no matter what season(fall, winter, or spring) who paritcipates in a preview, scrimmage, or game at say team "A" high school and then transfers to say team "B" will have to sit out the remaining of the athletic year(all sports)

New Add-on Rule by the City League:

Any athlete, girl or boy, any sport, no matter what season(fall, winter, or spring) who participates in a preview, scrimmage, or game at say team "A" high(a City League team) and then transfers to say team "B"(a city league team) has to sit out for the remaining athletic year(all sports) and the next school year/athletic year

this rule does not apply for a transfer to a city league school to another school out of the City League, i do not believe if it applies for transfers into a City League team

basically this is like college where athletes have to sit out the next year

the reason i say brookhaven is because 90% of the time they are the one's that are guilty of the unwritten rule, that says no recruiting players from other schools

Brookhaven's star RB Markell Lacy came from Walnut Ridge last year, and yes brookhaven did recruit him

our AD doesn't schedule the games, well he may "schedule them, but our head coach chooses them and last year(2 years ago when we actually scheduled the games) we had two good playoff teams on our schedule and that is the only games we can schedule, because we have the 8 required City Leauge games and it ended up the two great teams we scheduled went a combined 3-17 for that year and who would have guessed that

plus our AD is a dumbass, i'm the team manager and its my job to get equitment for players, tape and just do football stuff

the AD however seems to think its my job to set the field, even my head coach says to tell him that its not my responsibilty to do it, however this guy keeps on nagging me every home game "hey are you going to get the markers out and set up the field" and tonight he did it again and i just about told him to fuck off, but i said "i can't do it right now, i'm busy" when in reality i wasn't doing shit and just walked into the locker room and sat down, but everytime i looked out to see if he was gone he was standing right out there, he actually started asking the players do it, fat chance he would have got anywhere with that

My bad. I meant Linden.

I also noticed that, even though Beechcroft won, they fell to #9. Mifflen passed you, even though you beat them. They got more points because they beat Whetstone, so, if you guys beat them next week, you should pass up Mifflen.

Good thing is that the team directly behind you, Alliance, lost their game.

Tough luck on scheduling playoff teams then they blow and hurt your schedule.
