ATHENS, Ohio, Feb. 22 Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, has the dubious honor of prompting the most complaints on students illegally sharing music, a recording association said.
The Recording Industry Association of America notified the school that since the beginning of 2007, at least 1,287 students illegally accessed music, the Columbus (Ohio) Dispatch said Thursday.
Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind., was second, with 1,068 complaints.
RIAA figures don't mean more students are breaking the law at OU than at other schools, said Shawn Ostermann, the school's interim chief information officer. The university's network makes it easy to identify possible violations.
