The women's soccer team earned an at-large bid to this year's NCAA Tournament and will take on Virginia Tech on Friday.
Ohio State has earned an at-large selection for the 2021 NCAA Women’s Soccer Tournament and will travel to Virginia Tech for a first round matchup on Friday, Nov. 12.
This will the Buckeyes’ 15th NCAA Tournament appearance and 11th in the last 13 seasons. All 15 appearances have come under the direction of 25th-year head coach Lori Walker-Hock. The Buckeyes have a record of 13-13-2 in the NCAA Tournament.
The Ohio State women’s soccer program mourns the loss of one its own as former captain Amy Graeff Van Culin passed away last week following her battle with lymphoma.
Amy was a four-year letter winner from 2005-08 and served as a team captain in 2008. She played in 44 games with 14 starts. She was a four-time OSU Scholar-Athlete who earned her degree in psychology as well as minors in women’s studies and legal foundations.
“It was my honor to be Amy’s coach and play a part in her development,” said head coach Lori Walker-Hock. “Amy was the model of hard work, personal growth and the commitment to excellence in her four years as a Buckeye. Amy was a fighter with the strongest character. She was both loved and respected by all her teammates. We are all in shock by the loss of such a beautiful young mother, wife, daughter, friend, lawyer, captain and forever Buckeye. We all love and miss you, Amy!”
Following her time as a Buckeye, Amy earned her law degree from Capital University and practiced law in the Columbus area. Her and her husband Todd have two beautiful young children, Kylie and David.
Five Big Ten Conference Schools Earn Bids To 2022 NCAA Women’s Soccer Tournament
The Big Ten Conference will have five schools participating in the 2022 NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Championship, it was announced Monday afternoon. Michigan State, Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State and Rutgers earned berths to this year’s 64-team NCAA Tournament, which kicks off this weekend at campus sites around the country. The tournament culminates with the NCAA College Cup Dec. 2 and 5 at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C.

. Ohio State (10-5-3) captured the 16th NCAA Tournament berth in school history and seventh in the past eight years. The Buckeyes, who tied for fourth place in the Big Ten Conference standings, are seeded sixth in the Tallahassee (Fla.) Regional and entertain Bucknell in their NCAA Tournament opener at 6 p.m. (ET) Friday at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in Columbus, Ohio. A victory would propel the Buckeyes in a second-round match against either No. 3 seed Arkansas or Missouri State. Ohio State is also one of four Big Ten programs to reach the NCAA College Cup, doing so in 2010.
