Although lacking the start power of KBD, Liddell, Branham, or Sensabaugh, I’m liking the makeup of this team more than any previous team of Holtman. Multiple guys who can bring the ball up the court in Thornton, Bonner, Gayle, and even Mahaffey. Multiple guys who can shoot the ball in Thornton, Gayle, Battle, and hopefully Middleton. A couple really good athletes and a handful of tough defenders/rebounders. Plus a pair of solid big men.

It really doesn’t feel like this team is going to be entirely reliant on one particular guy having a good night. Which is a nice change from years past.

Ohio State 73 - Western Michigan 56: won by 17
Ohio State 92 - Alabama 81: won by 11
Ohio State 86 - Santa Clara 56: won by 30
In the 8 team tournament Ohio State finished 1st, Santa Clara finished 2nd, Alabama finished 3rd, and Western Michigan finished 5th. Ohio State didn't get to play the 3 worst teams; Mercer (6th), Tennessee State (7th), or Southeastern Louisiana (8th).

When was the last time Ohio State Men's Basketball won any tournament, let alone winning by an average of 19 ⅓ points a game?
