Ohio State vs. Rutgers, Wednesday, 7 PM, BTN

Great stuff....
For $3.x mill a year and the shit show put on I would think you might be more understanding why a vote of confidence was needed from your boss or why everyone is so critical. If my performance at work were at that level I would be long gone and I would be looking at myself to fix, not others.
This has damaged his legacy at tOSU and any future mediocrity will do so even more. Perception is reality and the perception of many is we have hit a low.

. Why give this team another chance to embarrass our university and the other great teams that came before them that actually gave a [Mark May]?.
They should go but leave half the team behind, i.e. Loving and the most apathetic. Tell them if they don't play like they care to find a better fit at another school next year. tOSU may be best to start from scratch with all frosh , problem is recruiting also is apathetic.

I would leave Loving and Lyle at home and take the rest of the team....couldn't be any worse....

If Ohio State is invited to the NIT, they should turn it down. I've never said something like this before but this team does not deserve to travel.

And I really do think it is time that Coach Matta step down or be fired.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say craft was the glue holding this team together. He provided a spark and his unrelenting energy gave the other guys something to feed on. Since craft left there is no energy. Every year since then has shown less energy until it culminated last night with zero. No energy. None. At all. I think from 2010-2014 we assumed Matta was coaching this into them and it was part of the game plan.

Matta should have stepped down after last year. You are right in that his reputation is now damaged. Happen when coaches stick around too long.

I can't say he should have stepped down last year. I think he took some steps to (what he thought was) right the ship, and it obviously didn't. Last year was when the first seeds of doubt were planted in my mind. But I felt this year would be the litmus test. He purged the roster of guys that he clearly thought dragged them down last year. Well, it didn't work. The team is in a death spiral, and there aren't the type of kids coming in that are needed to get things back on track. Up until last night, though I thought it would be better to move on now, I saw the logic in giving him next year. I did think he needed to be forced to make some changes to the staff. Well, after last night, it's abundantly clear he has lost this team. That was a program crushing loss, and in the presser, Matta had no answers. He looked adrift. It would seem to be pretty clear to everyone but Gene Smith and Thad Matta that he's a dead-man-walking. So good luck trying to upgrade assistants or get any recruits worth a damn to sign on.

With the roster as it's currently constructed, I could totally see a 3-15 type death rattle next year. Next year, we're the B1G's Rutgers.

And we only got Craft because Bruce Pearl was a blatant cheater. Things could have been even worse.
