NFHS is going away from 1 and 1 after this season I believe so there is movement in the high school ranks at least.

The old man league I play in changed away from 1-and-1s but I was not aware of the broader context. I was assuming it started internationally if anywhere.

It doesn't exist in the pros, or in women's college basketball. Women's college hoops has a few rules that the men should adopt. This is one.

I do the scoreboard for HS games and after 5 fouls they shoot 2. If the 5th foul is a charge or illegal screen, the team being fouled does not shoot. They just get possession.
