Game Thread Ohio State vs Rutgers, Homecoming, 10/01/16 @ 12p ET, BTN

97.1 missed the point here

They seem to think the story is that Chris Worley says it's no big deal that they changed the signals.

No

The story is that Chris Ash was asked about the changing of the signals. HE said it didn't matter, because "it's about players making plays."

He knows

He knows it's coming; and he knows there's not a damn thing he can do about it

Pretty much that.

Imagine you spent 2 years handpicking, grooming, and producing top notch defensive talent. Then imagine you have to roll into Ohio Stadium with Rutgers to face said talent.

He knows.
More importantly, imagine that you fixed the absurdly terrible secondary and gave them a ferocious scheme and approach to win it all and take a back seat to no one (well except sparty ).

Then you have to face your brainchild being coached by a brilliant NFL mind on a one year layover before getting a better head coaching job than you have at Rutgers.

The Buckeyes Don't Want Chris Ash and Familiar Company Spoiling Homecoming

BuckeyeSafties.jpg

When Chris Ash arrived as the 30th head coach of Rutgers, he didn’t do so alone. The former Ohio State co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach brought with him eight staff members with ties to the Buckeyes.

On Saturday, these coaches return to Ohio Stadium where they once celebrated a national championship, this time wearing a different shade of Scarlet and looking for a win on the opposing sideline.

That’s not how the Scarlet and Gray plan on welcoming back their former brothers.

“It’s going to be nice seeing Coach Ash again,” H-back Curtis Samuel said, “but we know what we’re out there to do. We’re out there to handle business.”

The Buckeyes enter this game fresh off an early off weekend. While OSU did not play a game last Saturday, the coaches and players were at work preparing for this contest with the Scarlet Knights.

“We do things like signals, I'm just making sure that just things like that, especially defensively, with our defensive signals,” head coach Urban Meyer said on Monday. “But offensively, we go so fast and we do double down on (that) not just because it's Chris and (people) that know our program very well, but that bye week that's what you do.”

During his time at Ohio State, Ash helped to reshape the Buckeye defense, which has been one of the best in the nation even after his departure. Even though the Rutgers unit hasn’t proven as successful, Meyer still referred to the Scarlet Knights as “our defense” after watching film on the opposition.
