Game Thread Ohio State vs Penn State - 11/23/19, 12:00PM (FOX)

He holds the ball way too long. And still makes some really bad decisions, like keeping on the option with ~3:14 to go, and running straight out of bounds.

That's some classic Flydell Ross levels of unawareness.
Fields is still pretty young So he makes decisions we wish he didn’t. He is electric so that makes up for some of those errors. He also often throws short.

That hasn’t bitten the Bucks because of inferior competition, but probably will bite us in playoffs unless he improves. Fields needs to improve if the Bucks are to climb the mountain. All the other pieces are in place, but Fields needs to stay healthy while getting better. I said it earlier this year, it’s unfair to ask that of him being so young. But if the buckeyes are to win, he must improve his game.

This narrative that Day puckered is beginning to grate at me since it ignores the entire context of what happened. You just watched your entire offense lose their collective minds for 15 minutes straight with uncharacteristically terrible turnovers. What would you do in that situation? Turnovers were the only way this game would stay even reasonably close and PSU got three absolute GIFTS. Fields fumbling a hair before he crosses the goal line? 2 fumbles inside the OSU 30? If those three things don't happen, you're looking at a minimum 35-17 score. Probably worse since PSU would have to press.

Minimum 35-7. Psu only had 1 long drive when they scored their first TD. They were shut down the rest of the game.

Yep. Someone else mentioned it, but it was like the end of the first half of The Game last year, except twice in 3 minutes. That's 'glitch in the Matrix' type shit. It's '98 MSU crazy. Shit that gets you dizzy as you watch in disbelief and 20 years later you still can't believe it.

Props to Day for not losing his cool and understanding how good this team is. You know you can be ultra conservative and still get the lead back to 11 and it'll be enough. As much as we want to win by more, that wasn't the time for style points.

Can't waste opportunities like this over vanity.

Don't know if it was mentioned but the power went out to the PA system and scoreboard right before the game. Normally it wouldn't be a big deal but it was Senior Day. Each of the Senior's missed their opportunity to hear their name called and to receive a standing ovation. I felt bad for them. That's a chance they'll never get back.

Let me begin this next paragraph by saying I am thrilled we have Justin Fields for a QB. He made some big plays today. Unfortunately he also made 3 plays that all changed the game in a less than positive manner. The 2 fumbles obviously stand out. But he also made a throw very late to Olave at the end of the 2nd quarter that would have put the Bucks up 21-0. Olave was so wide open it was ridiculous, but the ball was thrown so late that the defender had time to catch up and strip the ball from Chris. I told my wife before the game Olave is going to get arrested for totally undressing the DBs, and he did it again today, especially on that play.

All in all, a great day to be in the 'Shoe! And now we are into tsun week!

The throw to Olave was late because Justin had to dodge a rush. Guess it's hard to tell during the game. Joel Klatt pointed out and it showed clearly in replay.

Great game and wish I were in the shoe with you guys!

Thinking about it, I like that Ohio State came unglued and shot themselves repeatedly for a quarter. Now, they walk into Ann Arbor with a realistic assessment of who their top opponent is--who the team is that can really beat them--

Ohio State. If a couple bad things happen in crummy weather. If they get behind. They know that the team they must beat is themselves. Call the right plays and execute and this team can beat anyone, if they are willing to beat the version of themselves that we saw for one quarter yesterday.

If I'm Patterson, I am crapping myself.

All due respect, you're not looking at 35-17 You're looking at 35-7. Ped managed one drive all game. The other ten points were directly related to short fields owing to ball security.

Edit: Oregon beat me to it.

Buckeyes commit 3 turnovers, still beat the #8 team in the country by 11 points, and we're annoyed by it.

That's where our program is now. We're 11-0, spoiled, and I love it.

I'd have killed to win 10 games in a season ONCE when I was at tOSU.
It might just be me but if you want to win even next week ..this game was not the blue print for a NC team. This game was a Cooper blueprint.

It was a blueprint to play in inclimate weather and to maintain a comfortable lead after some issues with ball control. Plus after ×ichigan, games will be played in a dome. Weather wont be an issue. This game was a blowout.
