Game Thread Ohio State vs Penn State, 10/28/17 @ 3:30 ET (FOX)

I don't care about Penn State. They are an irritant. I recognize that they are a quality team with a good coach. Considering that I expected them to be dead for a decade or more after the NCAA sanctions, I find it amazing that they find themselves where they are, and I give them credit for that. However, I believe we have better players, a better program, and a better coach. I am looking at this game as an opportunity to establish that.

But I have reasons to doubt that Ohio State Football is what I think it is - and we know what those reasons are. But here we have a situation where they have this game at home, coming off a bye where they should be as healthy and rested as possible, and with extra preparation. Motivation shouldn't be a problem. They lost to this team last year, they have a chance to put PSU in their proper place, and control for the B1G East crown, a path to the B1G CG and a playoff bid is right there for the taking. We are not early in the year/schedule. They have had plenty of time to work the yips out of the special teams, QB/receivers/passing game, OL, and secondary. It's time to put up or shut up. There won't be any excuses by 7 PM or so tomorrow night. Who Ohio State is or isn't is about to be revealed - and I'm ready to find out.

Exactly. If we lose this one then it's just simple we are not the class of the big ten and we are not even the class of our division. We have everything in our corner right now as you stated with the time off, the motivation, an equally as good team as theirs, a coach who's got multiple NC's, and home field to top it all off.

This is it. As you said it's time to show up and keep swinging when the opponents can hit back for once. I'm tired of boat racing decent teams and then losing to a team in our conference that keeps us from a big ten championship.

We will find out what kind of heart, fight, and determination we have to go win a game.

'No way they stop our offense...'

ok.
When I see stuff like that, it always reminds me of Mike Tyson's quote when he was knocking everyone out in the first round: "Everyone has a plan until they get hit in the mouth."

We tend to treat our assumptions about sports in general, and CFB in particular, as true because we assert them. Football is about match-ups, schemes, lines of scrimmage, as well as intangibles and variables like momentum, injuries, bounces of the ball, bad or helpful calls, etc. You can predict with near certainty what will happen with a PSU or OSU game with Rutgers, but when you have two teams that are more than capable of beating each other, there are so many unpredictable factors involved that no one knows who is unstoppable or the like.

I get the sense that some people who post stuff like that think that when they post it, the internet pixie dust gets sprinkled on, and that helps it become true. Watch the game and then either enjoy or agonize over what it reveals.

Congrats on the job! From one recent Floridian to another, Welcome! It takes a bit of time to adjust to the weirdos, overabundance of 'Bama fans and bad drivers (seriously, it's like everyone's first day on the road). But, I think you'll find a good amount of tOSU fans down here. And, best of all-- not nearly as many PSU & scUM retards. Have yet to see a Pedster, thank God.

EDIT: Not sure where in FL you'll be this weekend but check out the alumni sites and you should find at least two bars in the area. In Tampa I recommend The Outpost or O'Briens.

As for the weirdos and bad drivers, I'm moving from California, so...

Appreciate the recommendations, but moving for me means driving as there is not an airline on earth that I will trust with my dog. I will be on the road between Orange County, California and El Paso, Texas during the game. That's why I said that it will be the first game in awhile that I miss. Most of real life is flexible enough that you can always catch games, but when real life isn't flexible, Buckeye Football doesn't compete.

...unless it's somebody's wedding or anniversary party. If they're stupid enough to get married in Autumn, you don't need them in your life.
