Game Thread Ohio State vs Michigan State - 10/05/19, 7:30PM (ABC)

The designed runs for Fields have been so well called. In the past we knew QB run based off of field position, offensive set and down. Now? Who the fuck knows and I love it. I think that is what is so refreshing with this team. They are not predictable.

This. I will admit, and small sample size shame on me. The first half of the first game there were some foibles... Let's say... Where there were a couple negative plays and then Fields takes it to the house. And I had some "Braxton Miller offense redux" concern/flashbacks. Since then it's been decidedly not that.

Not that "Braxton Miller redux" is overall a bad thing, but in the context of unpredictability in the QB run game... I like this better.

I’ve not had as much fun watching our guys play since Troy’s senior campaign.

‘14 was damn close... and the run from tsun through the trophy may be the most fun four game stretch I’ve witnessed in my life... this year has been enjoyable at a different level. Perhaps it was because that run was so surreal.

I think the team realized what happens if they stop playing and like good teams do they learn their lesson. The other 4 games we went off in the 2nd quarter which to me says once our coaches realize what's happening their adjustments are very good.

This offense for MSU doesn't scare me 1 bit and frankly neither does their defense.

I think our OL and RBs are going to take it upon themselves to run the ball well on them since it's what they pride themselves on.

Per SVP, MSU has been 20 point dogs to OSU 4 times in the last 40 years. They’ve covered every time. Place your bets accordingly.
They had on the ticker that Ohio State has scored 40+ points in their first five games for the first time since 1938. I checked and Ohio State scored 40+ points only once that season (42-7 against Chicago). I wonder if they meant any team since 1938...

LOL I had similar thoughts. FAU made me think it was going to be like previous years where the team looks unstoppable for 2 quarters then looks like they've never played football for another 2. Cincy game eased my fears a lot. Indiana game erased them almost entirely.

That designed run on 3rd and 10?

*Chef kiss*

The unpredictability of this offense is a damn good thing. How many times have we been able to sit back over the last few years, put on our coaching hats and say, “Here it comes, we all know it and so does the defense. Hope it works!”

Now? Hell if I know. I’ve been successful at calling a few of Dobbins carries, but I could have just as easily been wrong. Personally, I’m enthralled with that.
