I think Diebler should get another year honestly. That’s reasonable. The BIG seems to have four tiers this year. A few elite teams, a few solid tournament teams that are substantially better than Ohio State, Ohio State (and maybe a couple of teams with them) and then absolute garbage that’s substantially worse than Ohio State.
Where I think you and I may differ is that I think that a better coach could get these guys to play both harder and smarter and that they have sufficient talent to be a one weekend tournament team and I’m not sure you’d agree with that. Whether we can attract such a coach (I think there’s a fair amount of room for improvement between Diebler and someone established and elite) is an open question. I’d give Diebler another year, but don’t expect much from it.
How would you know? Are you his agent? Do you hire people in athletic departments? The guy is connected. He was absolutely going to be a head coach somewhere and somewhere likely soon-ish had Holtmann not gotten fired. Probably at a mid-major program, yes, but the reality is, he's at Ohio State now.Maybe some low low level program gives him a head coaching job but he wasn't getting a HEAD coaching job at a major conference school.

And I like how you changed the goal posts from being "considered" to being "hired by a low level program". You're not a TCUN fan, stop that shit.
The thing is we don't know that for sure. It's clear you hate the guy. That's fine. But now we're playing this stupid theoretical game that literally does nothing.
Like I said, it's lazy.
Lazy is throwing out unprovable theoretical scenarios when there are far larger issues at hand that you seem to want to continually ignore.Lazy is a major program just handing the job with very little resistance to an assistant of the guy they just fired.
Watch any Buckeyes opponent run their offense. It looks like they have a plan, quick and crisp passing, etc.. all the things well-coached teams do. Then watch our Buckeyes on offense. None of that. Never decisive, effective passing, never looking like there's a play or a plan. Maybe Bynum will go one-on-one and get to the hoop or shoot a 3. Maybe they'll let Bruce dribble to his spot for the 100th time. Or, here's a good one - get the ball to Tilly beyond the 3-pt arc, have him take a shot there with under a minute to go, one-possession game, after a time-out. That was my favorite for this game. Sheer, unadulterated brilliance!1This is a really discouraging loss. That being said, we shouldn't ignore that, combined with permissive refs, UVA played strong defense. It was hard for OSU to run any offense tonight. They took away some things OSU normally does - maybe Mobley being out changed part of those things too, but nevertheless it was a very challenging defense for OSU to contend with today.

I said this was a tough defense to go against tonight. You're ignoring reality here. UVA has the #17 defense in the country per Kenpom. You act like the Buckeyes were playing against air - that could not be farther from the truth. Virginia made it tough for OSU offensively.Watch any Buckeyes opponent run their offense. I have been critical of OSU defensively- to me, this is where the Holtmann/Diebler system has fallen flat. Just a little bit better rebounding and defending without fouling, and even with all the offensive struggles down the stretch, OSU wins that game.
Where did I mention Virginia in my comment? I even specifically said, "Watch any Buckeyes opponent run their offense."
