Ohio State vs. #15 Texas A&M, Nov 10, 2023, 7PM EST, Peacock

Just one of those Holtmann games, a bit off in a number of ways leading to a loss. It was like death by 1000 cuts, just lots of little things adding up to a loss. When you are at a star talent deficit, you don't have a margin for error to win against good teams with these problems. Missed too many free throws, bad passes (several off target passes made the recipient adjust his shot or not shoot), not catching the ball a few times, giving up second-chance points, making a handful of bad fouls that cumulatively helped get A&M free throws they shouldn't have gotten, not hitting good shots, etc. - all of these things combine to add up to costing you the game when you don't have the stars to make up for the mistakes.

A&M played well, they had a few guys adept at attacking the basket & hitting somewhat difficult mid-range shots. They had a knack for scoring when they got the ball close. Taylor made some tough shots, clearly he is as good as advertised. This OSU team needs another good 2-way player other than Thornton. Hopefully Chatman can be that guy. I thought Holtmann made a mistake in playing Okpara a few minutes too much down the stretch. Key is the better player, Okpara wasn't really affecting the late second half shots that A&M was making, and he ended up making some mistakes that cost the team. Gotta roll with Key more in the last 10 minutes of the game. I'd like to see more what the freshmen can do in the next several weeks - again, quality 2-way play is at a premium, and anyone capable of that should be leaned on more heavily.
