Ohio State Rowing Team (6 Straight B1G Champs, 2013-2014-2015 National Champs)

FWIW, it looks like it will be in Sacramento again next year.

Ohio State won three in a row. Already made history. Everything is just icing.

That being said, with the student body at Ohio State and former female athletes who perhaps didn't go to college in their respective sport(s), there's always a chance for them to be an NCAA Champion rower.

Some of the best U.S. rowers didn't row until college (that's why you always hope Ohio State taps into that tremendous student body).

Senior Ashley Bauer (New Albany, Ohio) named 2014-15 Ohio State Female Athlete of the Year after helping the Buckeyes to a third consecutive National Championship in Rowing. She is the third-straight rower to win Female Athlete of the Year at Ohio State.

OK, this may be a dumb question. But, you got 8 girls all rowing in sync and at the same at the same speed, so how do you know who is the best rower? Also, how do you compare the best rower on one team to the best rower on another team, (I'd say the 7 other rowers may significantly effect how good the best rower actually is)? They don't keep any individual stats do they?

Seat placement matters. I was taught usually the six is the strongest in an eight and 3, 4, 5, 6 are the engine (power and heavy).

I think Ashley Bauer was the five seat, so she's up there (in strength). She also rowed injured throughout the season and (I think) still raced every regatta in the 1V8.

ERG (ergometer) score/time/testing is a way you can compare individual rowers. Rowers' 2K times as well.

Ohio State finishes runners-up in the team competition at the 2016 National Championships.

The first varsity eight finished first (6:19:04) in the Grand Final, becoming the first school to win three National Championships in a row. The second varsity eight finished runners-up with a time of 6:28:90. Great effort all around.

The program already made history last season by becoming the first school to three-peat as National Champions and are the first non-Ivy, non-Pacific-12 school to win a Championship. Andy Teitelbaum is doing a great job.

OHIO STATE WOMEN'S ROWING BEATS MICHIGAN BY A POINT TO CAPTURE FIFTH STRAIGHT BIG TEN TITLE

Ohio State battled Michigan all morning for Big Ten supremacy. By the time the final race of the day rolled around, the Buckeyes trailed the Wolverines 116-108 when they turned to the First Varsity Eight. That group — Cassandra Johnson, Anne Dietrich, Alice Riley, Bridget Schodorf, Aina Cid I Centelles, Rachel Engel, Stephanie Williams, Ida Kruse and Cassidey Jenney (coxswain) — crossed the finish line in 6:08:79, fewer than three seconds before Michigan at 6:11:19.

Ohio State next heads to the national championships on May 26 in Mercer, New Jersey, looking to reclaim its spot atop the sport. The Buckeyes won three straight national titles from 2013-15 but finished second behind California by three points a year ago.
