Game Thread Ohio State @ Penn State - 09/29/18, 7:30PM (ABC)

Nice try fellas but as we all know, real men don't shave their balls.

unrelated note: The total on this game is up to 72 in some places

yowza

Bovada peaked at 71 but is back down to 69 now. I feel like it dropped after Urban's comments about expecting it to be a field position game... After hearing that I got on to bet the under but now I'm just going to stay the f away from it.

Yeah, the over is just too easy on paper. 2 good offenses, 2 bad defenses etc etc etc. It just never seems to go that way.

If OSU has success running the ball (very likely) I could see them slowing it down to protect the defense. That alone could kill an over that high.

You don't have to give a shit about their fake outrage. Ohio State has to give a shit about their fake outrage, because Ohio State has to give a shit about Ohio State's perception.

It's honestly confusing to me that I'm having to explain to a bunch of people that probably have wives that being right doesn't always matter.
But see, here’s the thing, it’s already true that no one cares. I mean truly, no one cares. This was such a non-issue, that people have already moved on from their fake outrage to no outrage.

I had that thought as well but you better believe if we see an opportunity to hit them with play action we will do that now. I would not be surprised to see us have lesser passing attempts but more yards per attempt due to the effectiveness of our Run game.

Starting to lean this way. Sure if they absolutely stack the box, Buckeyes will burn them in 1-on-1 matchups that may go for huge plays, but I think Urban will want to shorten the game a little. This D cannot be trusted if they're out there every 3-4 minutes in a shootout (imo).

Think Dobbins has a steady dose of 5-10 yard runs that demoralize Penn State on at least a couple long drives.

Our OL run blocking needs to be way better than it was against Tulane (4.0 ypc). I can't count how many times we either got stuffed or strung out. And that was against Tulane in our house...shit will be exponentially tougher in Crappy Valley.

another thing on playing the total is that Penn State offense has been in the teens late into games against some pretty bad teams.

You just can't count on piling on that many 4th quarter points vs OSU

I re-watched some of tulane film and there were low yielding runs in many cases because they were on the wrong side of the box count and ran it anyway.

One particular 3rd and short they ran into a 10 man box and the only reason it wasn't the full 11 was one guy went in motion.

Point being I don't think the OSU OL has an issue with getting push, the YPC are low because defenses are, up to this point, selling out to stop the run still.

I said somewhere else, I do not think that will continue.I see a lot of bear fronts/zone blitzes in the future. They have seen enough tape now to know you can't just sit back in man coverage against Haskins.

It really is hard to judge. On one hand, I see a team that should take care of business, but on the other I don’t really know what Penn State is capable of with the second half numbers they’ve put on the board. Is it just a garbage time pile up or are they able to grind an entire game out like this?

I feel like if both teams show up for all four quarters, the Bucks should still leave with the W, but it’s just hard to call it right now.

I could see it being a close one and going either way, but I could also see a blowout if the D tightens up and the offense pours it on.

I need a drink.

If it gets into which team can grind out the other, I don't think there's a team in the country--including 'Bammer, hee yuk--that can out-grind us. We simply have too many horses and are too deep...

It’s hilarious hearing national media outlets say when talking about Haskins, “What was thought to be a source of concern for the Buckeyes, has turned to be an absolute strength.”

Umm. Was anyone worried going into this season? Dwayne is a great field general, and has checked all of the boxes in every single one of his appearances. Love that he’s finally gotten his opportunity to shine.

Put up another 250+ and 4 TDs on Saturday, Dwayne.

I take confidence knowing they need some really big things to go their way to win.

1. Limit the big plays
2. Win the LOS
3. Pressure Haskins

Where as for us its more

1. Dont turn the ball over
2. Win field position
3. Stop the run

Ours is more "don't fuck it up" things IMO.

As for their late scores? These ass holes were throwing TD passes late in the 4th in every one of their past 3 games. It'd be like a UCF fighter continuing to hit a fighter thats already given up.
