Outside of last year MSU always plays us tough. They have new QB so there is little film on the guy. He doesn’t appear as mobile though. If we keep the backers off the line and do some blitz packages, I think we can contain them.

Yards per play: 4.9 (109th)
3rd down conversion: 32.31% (120th)

Rushing YPG: 125.6 (110th)

YPA: 6.5 (94th)

Pass play selection: 51.35%
Run play selection: 48.65%

The MSU offense is putrid. Of OSU opponents, only Rutgers & Tulane are worse depending on which stats you look at.

Man last year on the heels of the Iowa loss, with the next game vs MSU, I thought no way OSU covers 16 or 17. But I was wrong, it was a total beatdown. Now after some disappointing results OSU is laying 5' ... very tempting to take MSU, but I'm feeling like it is another trap. Their D and especially run D is amazing, but Lewerke would be the worst QB in the B1G if it weren't for Rutgers and Minnesota having extremely bad QBs.

Since people hate comparing this year’s team to the 2014 squad and a lot of them say the game against MSU that year was a turning point, I went back to view the film tonight.

Just wrapped up the first half. Defense was completely shredded by MSU and we coughed up the ball so many times I lost track. Special teams was also horrid.

Bucks pulled away in the 4th, but the D continued to give up huge chunks of yardage and MSU wouldn’t go away.

You can keep telling me there’s no way they compare, but anyone saying they knew that team would go on to win the NC is full of shit.

Btw, just watched Langford shed about 10 tackles on his way to another TD. Very similar issues with bringing ball carriers to the ground. 2014 defense looked lost in this one, secondary was burnt toast.

Don’t give up on this year’s team just yet.

Well since I have watched ever MSU game this year and been at all the home games I can give you some perspective.

- My first thought after NW game was this was a for sure loss for MSU, now I am not sure. MSU defense has evolved and has gotten better and better each week. The offense not so much but the D keeps them in games.

Scouting report-

- MSU gives up a lot of passing yards because they are so tough to run against, the defense is once again very solid and just got back our best Corner so that should help
- MSU defense is designed to stop the run and bend don't break against the pass, so we give you the slants at times and short passing game banking you can't do it all game
- in a word the Defense is good, very good, becoming dominating at times
- Offensively, I think the word is bad, and Coach D has proven to be just bad at handling QBs, Lewerke has been unable to throw the ball the last few games, so one will see, Why he didn't start Rocky is madness last game
- O-line can't move people too well, at best usually a stalemate
- our punt game has become horrific, down to a 3rd string walk on punter who had an 8 and 11 yard punt last weekend
- Kicker very very good
- return game sucks, our punt return game is so bad, I have no words, literally the worse in the B10
- WR are good but best one out for season

MSU is Tressel ball at its finest. Keep game close, don't make mistakes, rely on defense and ball control. I think everyone MSU beats looks back at the game and wonders how that happened on some level. MSU relies on perfect execution to win. And when they are dialed in that works against teams of similar or same talent level very well and at times dominating. So MSU is definitely back focusing on execution which will keep this close. tOSU has more talent but if they do not execute at a high level this game could be extremely frustrating for the Buckeyes ( and their fans....). It is supposed to be a very cold dry day. Weather should not be much of a factor other than cold as hell. High is 34 right now. But no rain or prediction of high winds.
