Mingo is also Ped State's 2nd lead scorer and their top assist man. That's a very key missing player for them.

You would think that at first glance, but it's PSU. Their backups are about the same quality as their starters. This just means Tunca will play more, and he scored 13 points in 18 minutes of Game 1 between these schools. Rice scored a career-high 20 against OSU, this gives him more of a path to PT as well. Those guys will be able to fill the void offensively, the only question is will they be as capable defensively.

They are already 233rd in defense according to KenPom. Losing their best defender definitely doesn't help.

Worth noting that PSU's first game in January without Mingo was a 74-72 loss against UM, so his absence obviously did not prevent PSU from putting forth a competitive effort against the B1G's best. They also played a close game @ Purdue without Mingo as well. I'm fully expecting PSU to fight today & doubt losing Mingo will harm them much, if at all.

The energy, especially the Defense is way better than it has been. I wonder if they didn't get a huge confidence boost from that Purdue win and are finally being proactive on the court now? I like it
