Carl Spatz, James Thurber made (as in drew) the cover of the New Yorker, does that count? Jack Nichlaus, How about Earl Wilson and the guy who drew Steve Canyon? Roy Lichtenstein. You're not lookin' this stuff up as you go along are you? I mean, this is mano a mano, right? If you can't pull it out of your ass it doesn't count.

I knew a few of them. The rest I learned doing research to upgrade Ohio State's wikipedia page.

You're right about Milt Caniff (Steve Canyon)
Thurber and Nicklaus made it.
Lichtenstein's artwork made it twice.

There's several more though.
